Breaking Down Arizona's Newest 4-Star Commits

Andrew KulhaAug 22, 2013

Wednesday was a big day for Rich Rodriguez and Arizona Wildcats football on the recruiting trail.

Anytime you land a talented 4-star recruit, there's reason to be excited, but what about two 4-star recruits in one day?

That's double the reason to be happy if you're a fan of Arizona football.

Justin Hopkins of 247Sports broke the news Wednesday night that the Wildcats picked up the commitments of two recruits from Bishop Mora Salesian in Los Angeles, Calif.:

"

Arizona just got some huge news tonight with the addition of two four-star recruits.

Los Angeles (Calif.) Salesian teammates Jamardre Cobb andMarquis Ware made the call to Arizona tonight, which was expected to a degree.

"

Jamarde Cobb is an outside linebacker, ranked No. 16 at the position, according to the 247Sports Composite Rankings. He's also the No. 22 player from California, per the same rankings, and that's the most impressive part here.

California is a state that produces a ton of recruiting talent on a yearly basis, so to be 22-deep talent wise in that class says a lot about how good Cobb is.

He's 6'2'', 230 pounds and runs a 4.79 40, as per 247Sports. That's a great combination of size and speed, so by his measurables and rankings alone, there's a lot to like about this commitment if you're an Arizona fan.

Joining Cobb in committing is another 4-star outside linebacker, Marquis Ware. Ware is the No. 15 outside linebacker, according to the 247Sports Composite, and the No. 19 player from California.

Again, the same principles we talked about with Cobb apply here. Ware is obviously a very talented player, checking in at 6'2'', 215 pounds.

If these two both stay committed, Arizona will be looking good at outside linebacker.

Antonio Smothers, a 4-star JUCO outside linebacker, is also committed to the Wildcats.

Both Cobb and Ware join Bishop Mora Salesian teammate Rodney Carr (3-star ATH), who committed to Arizona in June. It's rather apparent that Rodriguez and his staff have done a great job of recruiting that school in particular, and it's paid off in a big way now that Cobb and Ware are in the mix now as well.

Arizona's 2014 class is truly impressive. The Wildcats boast 24 commitments and have the No. 17 class nationally, according to the 247Sports team rankings
