Ring Rap With Matt: My Judgment Day Thoughts and Predictions

Matthew HesterMay 13, 2009

Hello everyone, I want to thank you all once again for joining me.

Well folks judgment day is upon us, and after the smoke clears we will see who is standing tall.

Will the 50-time champ "Edgucate" the man of many face colors? Can the king of the RKO put a leash on the animal? Does the "All American American"loose his lisp in freak accident on the way to the arena?

Who the hell knows? I dont write the scripts, and  you dont either. So I guess we will find out together this Sunday.

In the mean time though. We can throw in our 2 cents, and see if we are as smart as the Booker's. So kiddies as they say in the circus lets get on with the show!

At Backlash I got about 50 percent of my predictions correct. Let's see if I can improve upon my stats .

Umaga vs. CM punk

To be honest with you folks I'm not really feeling this match. It was rushed right from the start with out much build up.

This match was clearly booked to build up steam for Umaga's big Smackdown return. I'm not sure how these two will work together in the ring.

I expect a quick five to six minute match, it wont be a squash. Punk will get in a fair amount of offense. In the end though I expect this to be a clear cut win by the Samoan Bulldozer.

In a clean win I think the pick Umaga to have his hand raised in victory.

John Cena vs. Big Show

This should  be a ok match, both are veterans in the ring. To be honest though this doesn't really get me to excited.

We shouldn't expect to much technical grappling in this one if any. This is going to be all power moves by both men.

My gut tells me Cena takes the win in this one.I am going to go against my gut feeling though, and pick the Big show with the big right hand in the end knocking out Cena.

I have a feeling we are going to see this feud go on a bit more but I could be wrong.

Chris Jericho vs. Rey Mysterio for the Intercontinental championship

These two have grappled many times in the past. They both started their careers roughly around the same time. So they are both very familiar with each other.

In every match I have seen them together it is always a good showing. Expect no different this Sunday.

Due to the size of Mysterio and Jercho, these two can go all out and avoid injury. I expect to see Rey hit a ton of high spots. On Jericho's side, we should see his offense open up a bit more because he has more to work with.

This match could be a possible show stealer if they are given the time. Jericho will probably wind up cheating being the heel and all. In the end I expect to see Mysterio tap out to the walls.

Jack Swagger vs. Christian for the ECW title

At Backlash these two stole the show. I think we will see the same this Sunday.

Swagger is just so impressive once that bell rings you just know he is the real deal. Not to slight Christian, as he is very ring sound himself who always delivers in a big spot.

I can see this one pushing up to  15 to 20 minutes.Their will be lots of near falls through out the bout. Swagger, will be technically sound as always as he continues to turn heads.

Christian will score a ton of reversals with some nice high spots.I  think Christan will carry this one home with the win to retain the title. This will be another possible show stealer.

Edge vs. Jeff hardy for the WWE Heavyweight title

This should be another fantastic bout. Jeff and Edge go way back to the late 90s .They know each like the back of their hands, and it will show in this match.

I think this will be the better of the two heavyweight bouts. It should be a back and forth match with both nailing the finishers. Expect a little dirty pool from Edge.

I can see this bout going 20 to 25 minutes. In the end though I see Jeff crashing and burning .

Edge, will capitalize on the situation and get the 3 count to retain the belt. I can see this feud continuing on for another month or so.

Randy Orton vs. Batista for the WWE championship

Randy, is in his stride right now which is good for the Raw brand. Batista seems to be on all cylinders again which is also good.

While I don't see this being the best title match in history, these two should be more than capable of putting on a good show.

Batista will get in more of the offense in this bout. That is not to say Randy won't hit is signature stuff including the RKO .

In the end I can see Batista ready to pin the champ, but he will get distracted by legacy. Batista will turn his attentions back to Orton and get hit with the RKO for the win.

Well folks thats my 2 cents on the this Sundays Judgement Day.

I hope you all enjoy the show.

As always, good day and God bless.
