SummerSlam 2013: New Stipulation Added to CM Punk Versus Brock Lesnar Match
The greatly expected match between the Best in the World, CM Punk, and the Beast, Brock Lesnar, just got a bit more interesting. In a new turn of events, Brock Lesnar's manager (and CM Punk's former best friend) Paul Heyman made the announcement during the WWE SummerSlam Pre-Show that the match will now be contested under "No Disqualification" rules.
According to the "No Disqualification" stipulation, Punk and Lesnar will now be contesting in a match in which weapons, outside interference, as well as other surprises will be present.
The new match stipulation should come as a surprise to no one. Since his return to the WWE on the April 2, 2012 edition of Monday Night Raw Brock Lesnar's past four matches have all fought under similar rules—his steel cage match against Triple H earlier this year at Extreme Rules being the only one to add a slight variable.
The question now is how will this rule change effect (and benefit) both of the match's participants.
With Punk being billed as the "smaller" man one could expect the use of weapons to benefit him—will this version of "David" have "slingshot" to take down the "Beast?" Expect Punk using chairs, steel steps, and any other object lying around to his advantage.
Of course, Lesnar is just as free to use the stipulation to his advantage—something I fully expect Paul Heyman will take advantage of, too—perhaps Heyman's apprentice and associate, Curtis Axel, will also come into play. Heyman's inference with this match will without a doubt be a key component throughout the match.
In the end it still remains to be seen who will come out on top. One thing that is certain is that the match will be full of surprises and is quickly looking to dethrone John Cena versus Daniel Bryan (wrestling for the WWE Championship) as the match of the night.
