Matchups to Watch For
Australia vs. Southwest
Australia's Perth squad and the Southwest region's Corpus Christi, Texas team will play in the first of two crossover matchups at this summer's tournament.
Both sides lost their first two games in Williamsport, meaning they've been eliminated from the bracket and will play their last game Monday afternoon inside Lamade Stadium.
Corpus Christi should be favored to win this international clash, as the Aussies were outscored 16-0 in their two previous losses. The Americans surrendered 18 runs in two defeats but at least made things happen at the plate, knocking in six runs thus far.
Brno, Czech Republic (Europe-Africa) and Grosse Pointe Woods, Mich. (Great Lakes) will play each other in the second crossover game Tuesday.
Latin America vs. Canada
In the second matchup at Volunteer Stadium on Monday, Aguadulce, Panama will square off against Nepean, Ontario, the side representing the Canadian region this summer.
The Panamanians are coming off a 13-0 loss to Tijuana, Mexico on Sunday and will be aiming to bounce back with a win over a solid Canadian squad coming off a hard-fought victory over the Czechs on Saturday.
This high-stakes matchup is scheduled for 6 p.m. ET on Monday evening, and the winner will advance to play the winner of Taoyuan, Taiwan (Asia-Pacific) vs. San Lorenzo, Puerto Rico (Caribbean) Tuesday.
The loser will be eliminated with two losses.
