Michael Cole: Worst WWE Announcer of All-Time
Last night on "Monday Night Raw", WWE Hall of Famer Jerry "The King" Lawler said what I have been thinking for the past two years during the tag-team match that involved Matt Hardy, William Regal, M.V.P. and Kofi Kingston.
Cole had been reciting something that one of the superstars had said before the match began and "The King" said something to the effect of "Yes, we all heard him say it Michael....so why are you repeating it?!"
At one point in time I used to be able to tolerate the so-called "play by play" announcing of Michael Cole; now it has gotten to the point where I debate not watching "Raw" do to his terrible announcing.
Cole at least used to call the match at times, now hes just so focused on telling the viewers what's already happened during the show.
It's as if he thinks the average "Raw" fan takes bathroom breaks every 10 minutes and needs to be filled in on what they missed.
Last night I conducted my own little experiment as I watched the show. I paid attention to what Michael Cole had to say for the first time in what seems like forever.
I can count on one hand the amount of times he actual used a wrestling term. At one point he even called William Regal's inverted body slam a "throw".
Now "Raw" remains to be WWE's premier show despite this man's poor excuse for announcing but what would truly make Monday night's the most enjoyable for this WWE fan would be the termination of Michael Cole's contract.
Give him a job on WWE's website recapping what happened on Raw last week so we don't have to hear it during the actual broadcast.
Whatever they choose to do with him, I just ask that it has nothing to do with calling a wrestling match.
