Knowshon Moreno's Jersey Adds Up to More Than a Number for Denver Broncos

Question 1.  Pick any player from your team, and list all of the questions you would ask for a feature interview.  Questions to ask for feature interview with rookie running back Knowshon Moreno, who selected No. 27 to wear as his first professional football jersey for the Denver Broncos. 

The number once belonged to Darrent Williams, a popular Bronco, who was murdered early New Years Day 2007.  Steve Atwater also wore No. 27 during his successful career as a Bronco safety.

1.  When you first learned of the tragedy behind Darrent Williams, who wore No. 27, and what had happened to him, you said during an interview that you didn’t know he had been murdered.  What was your first reaction to the news?

2.  Some say it is just a number. Others say it is just as important as selecting a name.  What makes picking a number to wear on a jersey so important?

3.  What other numbers did you consider when wearing a Bronco jersey?

4.  What was the reaction from Bronco teammates, rookies and veterans when they learned you would be wearing No. 27?

5.  Describe the conversation you had with Darrent Williams’ mother when you asked permission to wear her son’s old number.

6.  This question is twofold: Darrent Williams’ mother, Rosalind, agreed that you could wear No. 27, with a condition that you volunteer a few hours a month at the Darrent Williams Teen Center. You said in a previous interview that you would, when the time was right.

What kind of timeframe do you have in mind?  Do you want to get your rookie season out of the way, for example, before you feel comfortable with a more public profile in the Denver community?

15. Do you think numbers in professional sports should be retired, why or why not?

16. You have said that Walter Payton is your favorite player because of his work ethic and his volunteer efforts off the field.  What kind of work ethic do you plan to give the Denver Broncos?  How do you see Walter Payton affecting your volunteer efforts off the field?

17. It was somewhat unexpected that the Broncos would use one of their first selections in the draft for a running back.  Describe how you felt when you learned you had been drafted by the Denver Broncos.
