Dolphins vs. Jaguars: TV Info, Spread, Injury Updates, Game Time and More
Fresh off a 24-20 loss to the Dallas Cowboys, the Miami Dolphins are looking to improve upon their performance and lay some groundwork for the upcoming regular season.
The Jacksonville Jaguars have been one of the league's doormats for the last three seasons, but new head coach Gus Bradley hopes to change that. The Jags will host the Fins on Friday night from EverBank Field in Jacksonville, Fla.
The results of this preseason tilt won't cause a gross overreaction for either side, but both teams would like to show that they have made strides from last season, to training camp and now into the preseason.

Jaguars' Hypothetical Alvin Kamara Trade Offer
Here's how you can watch the game and the information on the spread.
While coaches want to get a good look at their players in action, they also need to keep them as healthy as possible. Thus far, through training camp for the Jaguars and one preseason game for the Dolphins, the teams have mostly avoided major injuries.
The Jaguars have a concussion issue with defensive end Jeremy Mincey, per John Oehser of Jaguars.com.
He has missed the last two practices, but is currently listed as questionable by ESPN.com.
Oehser also broke the news that wide receiver Cecil Shorts would likely miss the game on Friday.
Rookie cornerback John Cyprien may not play as well. He is still nursing a hamstring issue, and the team is being cautious with him, per theย Florida Times-Union.
The Dolphins will likely be without defensive tackle Randy Starks. He has missed practice two times in a row, per Chris Perkins of the South Florida Sun-Sentinel.
Rookies to Watch
Dion Jordan and Luke Joeckel
When the No. 2 and No. 3 picks in the draft square off in the preseason, we should approach the matchup with guarded excitement.
Sure it is a preview of two players who might ultimately be standouts at their respective positions for the next decade, but because teams will try to protect players from injury in exhibition games, we may not see them on the field together for longโor at all.
That said, Jordan had two tackles in the Hall of Fame game. The Dolphins rookie pass-rusherย showed a bit of the explosiveness that made the Fins grab him with the third-overall pick.ย
Joeckel will be getting his first taste of in-game action, and he should be tested by the Dolphins' aggressive defensive lineโeven if he doesn't see a lot of Jordan.
Denard Robinson
Another high-profile rookie to keep an eye on is Jaguars offensive weapon Denard Robinson. The former Michigan Wolverines standout will be playing Wildcat quarterback and running back. He recently switched to jersey No. 16, the number he wore in college, per Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.
Robinson could provide a few highlight-reel plays if he can get loose in the open field. This game could mark the beginning of the next successful slash player's career.
QB Watch
Jags' QB Duel
Blaine Gabbert and Chad Henne are currently listed as co-No.1 quarterbacks on the Jaguars unofficial depth chart, per Oehser.
There is nothing that more loudly screams quarterback competition. It isn't likely that the winner will be determined in the first preseason game, but Henne and Gabbert both have a chance to get a leg up if they play well.
Ryan Tannehill's Progress
The Dolphins would love to see their second-year quarterback build on what he accomplished as a rookie. He threw for 3,294 yards and 12 touchdowns, but he was also picked off 13 times.
In limited work against the Cowboys, Tannehill completed two of five passes for 11 yards.
With rookies like Russell Wilson, Andrew Luck and Robert Griffin III experiencing such great rookie seasons, the Fins can only hope Tannehill closes the gap between himself and the more heralded quarterbacks from the 2012 NFL draft.
Prediction
The Jags have something to prove under a new head coach. Though this is a preseason game, a new regime means new hope, excitement and enthusiasm. That approach should be good enough for a preseason win.
