Good Guy Alex Rodriguez Gets Hit by Pitch, Makes Funny Face America Will Love

Gabe ZaldivarJun 8, 2018

Baseball fans, you may want to sit down when you hear this news: Alex Rodriguez—all-around good guy and champion of the people—was hit by a pitch.

Before you ruin that replica jersey with a flood of tears, let me continue by saying the New York Yankees slugger made it out just fine.

Big League Stew's Mike Oz spotted the latest ridiculous moment from the, um, silly show surrounding Rodriguez, his suspension and the appeal process that should have him playing the rest of the season.

As Oz notes, White Sox left-hander Chris Sale plunked the third baseman on Tuesday night with a 93 mph heater. If you want to cheer along with the rest of fans, you can see the video below:

Now, the pitch isn't what caught the writer's eye. The more intriguing aspect was this face he made, which should take you fans through the rest of the season:

Even CJ Fogler noticed the beautiful moment and decided to make a GIF for us all to enjoy:

Hey, A-Rod, what's it like to be the most vilified athlete in sports?

How was craft services before the game?

How does it feel to be you right about now?

If you are wondering how grand Rodriguez's life is at the moment, minus the incessant boos, of course, ESPN's Wallace Matthews does a great job spelling it all out: He gets to play out the season, collect on the $28 million he is owed for 2013 and may even get his suspension shortened through appeal.

Oh, and he gets to troll all of you who spit venom, for which he has been well inoculated.

The Yankees have dropped the last two games to the White Sox. Under normal circumstances, the series would garner the kind of attention usually reserved for a mediocre team dropping two games to a horrible one.

Instead, the baseball world is locked in, and Rodriguez is trying so hard to do and say the right things, as if at this point he can win anyone over.

After the 3-2 loss, the Yankees star stated the following, via Yahoo! Sports:

"

It was the weirdest thing. Probably the first time in 2,000 at-bats. And walking up to the plate I said, 'Whatever you do, just don't get hit in the elbow.' Second pitch I get hit in the elbow. I couldn't believe it. I love the fans in Chicago.

"

Rodriguez will continue to put on his jersey and wear a huge smile despite the chorus of boos that follow him around the nation.

Really, the only thing missing is a cigar sticking out of his mouth as he soaks it all in.
