Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Luiz Gustavo Is Worth Modest Price Tag
Chelsea, Arsenal and Wolfsburg are interested in Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo, according to Charles Perrin of the Express.
What's more, he could be available for a reasonable £15 million, the report states.
Blues manager Jose Mourinho may be more interested in Manchester United's Wayne Rooney at the moment, but Gustavo would be a strong addition if talks break down with Rooney.
Gustavo posted four goals and an assist in 24 games (16 starts) with Munich last season in the Bundesliga. He has been a regular with the club since arriving in July 2011, developing a strong reputation while earning a Bundesliga title and Champions League winners' medal.
The 26-year-old midfielder is behind the likes of Franck Ribery, Arjen Robben, Mario Gotze, Bastian Schweinsteiger, Javi Martinez, Toni Kroos and new addition Thiago Alcantara in the fight for places at Bayern.
That Gustavo spent time on the pitch alongside most of these names as Munich ran away with the league title last season is an accomplishment in itself.
It isn't a surprise that Gustavo's price tag is low, given Munich don't need him: why not get some return out of the talented player?
One thing's for sure: Gustavo is a bargain this summer at the reported price.
According to talkSport, Wolfsburg may currently have the upper hand in any dealings for Gustavo, but should Chelsea trump them he would prove a worthwhile addition.
With the season inching closer, Mourinho would be wise to add one or two more talented players as Chelsea vie for the Premier League title.
