The Gold Standard: A Sit-Down with Frank Gore

Frank Gore is one of the top running backs in the National Football League. He has ran for at least 1,000 yards and five touchdowns in his last three seasons with the San Francisco 49ers. He was selected to the Pro Bowl in 2007 as a starter and also has been the star player in the 49er offense since he donned the red and gold.

If I had the chance to sit down and talk with the future Hall of Famer, these are the questions that I would ask him:

1) Is there anything you wish you would have accomplished before leaving the University of Miami to enter the NFL draft?

2) Had you not torn your ACL in 2002 with the Hurricanes, do you think you would have gone higher in the draft?

3) Historically known for more passing and receiving stars than rushing stars, what was your emotional status after hearing you were drafted by the San Francisco 49ers?

4) After posting solid numbers in your rookie year, your competition—Kevan Barlow—was traded away and you were the new starting running back. Did you feel added pressure being the featured running back?

5) Statistically you had your best season in 2006. How did you avoid becoming a victim of the "sophomore slump?"

6) Which current or past player do you most model your abilities and running style after?

7) In 2007 your mother passed away, which we were all sad to hear. Is there anything she has said over the years that gives you inspiration both on and off the field?

8) The 49ers are going through another coaching change. Mike Singletary is a Hall of Fame linebacker, but what does he bring to the team that could make him possibly a Hall of Fame coach? What is it about his coaching style that has you guys so determined to win?

9) Of all the additions to the team this offseason, which players are you most excited to have on the squad this upcoming season? What are your thoughts about first-round pick Michael Crabtree?

10) What can we expect from the 49ers this upcoming season that will get people rushing to buy tickets to every game? What will we expect out of yourself in the 2009 season?
