Arsenal Transfer Rumours: Nicklas Bendtner to Malaga Would Be Best for All

Richard LangfordJun 8, 2018

Nicklas Bendtner's time as a Gunner could be quickly approaching its end.

Meanwhile, this is just another development pointing to the fact that, after entering this transfer window with grand plans, it could be business as usual for Arsenal as they fail to make a big splash.

Arsene Wenger appears to be preparing the fans for this eventuality. Here is the Gunners boss, as quoted by the Mirror's John Cross:

"

[W]e are prepared to wait. It looks unlikely before the Emirates Cup.

We still have a strong squad but we are there on the market to try to strengthen our team. With or without additions we can be title challengers next season.

"

So, unfortunately for Arsenal fans looking to find hope that a big name is on the verge of signing, I have to pass along the rumor of a player leaving.

Well, that is not entirely true. In an effort to sweeten the pot, the Daily Mail reports that Malaga have offered defender Jesus Gamez as part of the deal. He is certainly no giveaway. The right-back has been the club's captain, and he would fit in well with Arsenal.

This would provide further competition for Bacary Sagna and Carl Jenkinson. Also, Sagna has just one year left on his deal.

For Arsenal, that is better than nothing. It's not like they are going to miss Bendtner. He spent last year on loan with Juventus, and he did little to impress. The 25-year-old made just 10 appearances for them and didn't register a goal.

With his career apparently stalling out, Bendtner can use the change of scenery and a club that is willing to back him.

This would give Malaga a young striker with plenty of talent and one they can try to develop. That means it will be a win for all involved, which should certainly help this deal get done quickly. So should the fact that these two sides have a nice working relationship.

Arsenal purchased both Santi Cazorla and Nacho Monreal from the Spanish club last season.

There is still the matter of Bendtner's wages. If there is going to be a hold-up in this deal, it is likely to be with regard to his wages.

That wouldn't be the first time that a deal involving Bendtner fell through due to money. As the Daily Mail passed along, Bendtner was headed for German side Eintracht Frankfurt until disputes regarding his wages stopped the deal dead in its tracks.

My guess is that all parties involved will find a way to make this deal happen, and then Arsenal fans can hope that this isn't the only move the Gunners make during this transfer window.
