Real Madrid Transfer News and Rumors Tracker: Week of July 29

Samuel MarsdenJun 6, 2018

Welcome to your one-stop shop for all the news and rumours, however feasible or stretched they may well be, from the Santiago Bernabeu.

---LAST UPDATED: Saturday, 03 August 16:30 ET---

With the club's tour to America about to get under way, Real Madrid will be keen to tie up any outstanding business as soon as possible.

And as one big-name signing continues to be linked, a host of lesser names may be ushered out the door in the Spanish capital over the next seven days.

This slideshow will be constantly updated throughout the week with the most recent news, rumours and rubbish pushed to the first few slides.

With that in mind, make sure you're continuously heading back—you wouldn't want to miss anything.

Confirmed in: Casemiro (Sao Paulo), Isco (Malaga), Dani Carvajal (Bayer Leverkusen), Asier Illarramendi (Real Sociedad)

Confirmed out: Ricardo Carvalho (Monaco), Michael Essien (Chelsea), Jose Callejon, Gonzalo Higuain and Raul Albiol (Napoli)

Gareth Bale

1 of 9

Gareth Bale has rocked Tottenham by revealing he wants to leave the London-based club after they rejected Real Madrid's latest bid, according to the Daily Mail.

Los Blancos had a bid of £82 million turned down by Spurs, after a summer which has seen them relentlessly linked with the Welshman.

But now it seems that Bale has at last confirmed to the club that he wants to head to Spain.

The 24-year-old has yet to play in preseason, with earlier fitness doubts now expected to have actually been a problem with his state of mind, via AS.

Things will hopefully become clearer this week.

UPDATE: The Times are reporting that Spurs are ready to soften their stance on Bale's departure, but only if Madrid throw Luka Modric into the deal. The Croatian left White Hart Lane for the Bernabeu last summer, but Tottenham supposedly want him, plus £80 million, if they are to do business with Los Blancos this summer.

UPDATE: A deal has been struck between Tottenham and Real Madrid for the signing of Gareth Bale, according to AS. The Spanish paper suggests a verbal deal of 120 million euros has been agreed upon, with it unclear whether that includes any Madrid players as makeweights. Daniel Levy has requested that it be kept under wraps for now, while he helps Spurs complete some new signings ahead of the new season.

UPDATE: Marca say a fee of €100 million will be paid in five installments, possible over five years, and that the deal could go through some time this week.

Luis Suarez

2 of 9

Luis Suarez is once again being linked with a move to Real Madrid.

Two months have passed since the Uruguayan made it clear he was keen to leave Liverpool, and on Saturday morning links with a move to Spain resurfaced, via The Daily Star.

The English tabloid should be taken with a pinch of salt, but they suggest the 26-year-old will follow Gareth Bale through the door before the season kicks off in two weeks.

With these two additions, Madrid may seek to recoup some money by selling Cristiano Ronaldo, who has still not penned a new deal.

Cristiano Ronaldo

3 of 9

The Daily Star are saying they have got a 'world exclusive' involving Cristiano Ronaldo and a move back to Manchester United.

They say that United and Real Madrid have been locked in talks over an £80 million move for the last 12 days.

Ronaldo has two-years remaining on his contract and, with the player seemingly prepared to let it run, Los Blancos may feel they need to cash in.

Gareth Bale's potential move is also cited as a possible reason why the Spanish club may be prepared to do business on their Portuguese forward.

It is perhaps telling though that no other establishment is running with this story just yet though...

Antonio Adan

4 of 9

Goalkeeper Antonio Adan was told he could leave Real Madrid at the beginning of July, according to Marca.

He has since begun preseason with Los Blancos, but could be set to make the short switch across town to Rayo Vallecano, via Goal.com.

And as Real Madrid named their 28-man squad for their trip to the USA, which included four 'keepers, Adan was not included.

By the time they return, Adan should have found himself a new club.

UPDATE: Sporting CP are believed to have opened talks with Adan over a move to Portugal, via football-espana.net. Interest from Rayo Vallecano and other La Liga sides is thought to have fizzled out over his €700,000 a year salary.

Luka Modric

5 of 9

As Manchester United continue their hunt for a central midfielder, it is thought that their next port of call could be Real Madrid.

With any potential deal for Barcelona's Cesc Fabregas seeming dead, The Times are reporting that David Moyes will focus on Luka Modric next.

The English newspaper suggests that United are set to test Madrid's desire to keep the Croatian international with a £25 million bid.

Modric has only spent a year at the Bernabeu and, despite struggling to adapt at first, ended the season as a favorite among the club's supporters.

However, with the arrivals of Asier Illarramendi and Isco, it is though Madrid may be prepared to let go of one of their other midfielders.

Alvaro Arbeloa

6 of 9

Someone might want to instruct Rafa Benitez that Napoli are allowed to sign players from outside of Real Madrid.

Having already signed Jose Callejon, Raul Albiol and Gonzalo Higuain, the Italian side are now said to be in the hunt for Alvaro Arbeloa.

Il Mattino say that Madrid may be prepared to let the 30-year-old leave, with Dani Carvajal likely to become first choice right-back, should they receive a bid of close to €12 million, via football-espana.net.

Arbeloa previously played under Benitez at Liverpool.

Giorgio Chiellini

7 of 9

Carlo Ancelotti has been linked with a move for a fellow countryman to add strength to Real Madrid's defensive depth.

Gazzetta Dello Sport have suggested that the Spanish club are prepared to part with upwards of 20 million to land Juventus defender Giorgio Chiellini, via football-espana.net.

The 28-year-old Italian international, who has two years left on his contract in Turin, is unlikely to be easily acquired from the Serie A champions though.

---LAST UPDATED: Tuesday, 30 July 08:30 ET---

Fabio Coentrao

8 of 9

Having already captured Gonzalo Higuain, Jose Callejon and Raul Albiol, Napoli could be set to return to the Bernabeu for a fourth signing this summer.

Left-back Fabio Coentrao is the latest to be linked with a move to the Italian club, according to reports in the Italian press, via Football Espana.

The Portuguese international is thought to be available for around 18 million.

---LAST UPDATED: Monday, 29 July 9:30 ET---

Alberto Moreno

9 of 9

If Fabio Coentrao does leave Madrid this summer, Alberto Moreno is being reported by Marca as a likely replacement, via Football Espana.

The 21-year-old left-back enjoyed an impressive season for Sevilla last season, as well as featuring for Spain at Under-21 level this summer.

The Andalusian club, who have already sold Jesus Navas and Alvaro Negredo since last season, could sell Moreno for as little as €5 million.
