Manchester United Transfer News: Cesc Fabregas Bidding Positive for New Club Era
Manchester United is certainly being persistent in its pursuit of highly coveted Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas. On Thursday, new manager David Moyes indicated that the club's intentions have not changed, as the Red Devils are reportedly preparing a third offer for the 26-year-old star.
Sky Sports News documented the gist of what Moyes said, essentially calling it a fluid situation:
The Daily Mail's Paul Collins also reported on the press conference in Osaka, Japan, where Moyes let the public officially know the latest on Fabregas' status from the organizational vantage point.
This chase to land Fabregas is a great sign for Moyes as he takes over for retired legend Sir Alex Ferguson and leads United into an era of relative uncertainty. As the defending English Premier League champions, there is certainly a lot of hype to live up to in Old Trafford.
But if Moyes can steal Fabregas from the clutches of La Liga's biggest giant, it would work wonders for the franchise's future.
It was also savvy of Moyes to be rather coy and not reveal anything more than that the courting of Fabregas is simply "ongoing."
According to Collins, an offer of over £30 million was made to Barca in a possible transfer, but Fabregas' current club turned it down. Now United is prepared to make a third offer for Fabregas that will only make the Blaugrana think even harder about parting ways with their talented veteran.
Fabregas is only 26 despite his immense experience. Instead of being a non-regular in the starting XI due to the presence of Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta in Camp Nou, he could return to the EPL and be an instant cornerstone for the Red Devils.
It might be difficult for Fabregas to leave his native Spain, but in terms of how he'll likely feel on the pitch, this is a no-brainer—if Barcelona ultimately allows the transfer to go through, that is.
Midfield also happens to be the biggest area of need for Manchester United, so plugging in Fabregas there would be invaluable to the club being a continued success.
Fabregas is familiar with the expectations, pressure and general atmosphere both on and off the pitch in playing for one of the best clubs in Barcelona. In that regard, his transition to Old Trafford likely wouldn't be one that would take much adjusting.
With his natural instincts, ability to create scoring chances and to flex anywhere from central midfielder to striker, there are a plethora of ways Fabregas could make a significant impact on this United squad.
If Moyes is able to pull off this acquisition—when it's been dismissed multiple times after official offers already—it would signal a magnificent start to his tenure and also make the job in his maiden campaign with the Red Devils a bit easier.
