The NFC East: Strong and Built To Win It All!

Tony RoseMay 9, 2009

My Giants play in the strongest division in pro football. Last season, the worst team in the NFC East was the Washington Redskins. That same team won as many division games as the Cowboys and more than the Eagles. Furthermore, that same "worst" team won as many conference games as the Super Bowl runner-up, the Arizona Cardinals. That's a tough division!

The only thing that stops the NFC East from winning more Super Bowls is the fact that we beat each other up so much during the later part or the season. My team, behind a strong defense and sound, ground game, perennially navigates through the division pretty well.

The Giants, without their number one receiver and main deep threat, Plaxico Burress, still managed to win the division behind the running of Brandon Jacobs. This year, the Giants will also look to increase the production of third and fourth year receivers Steve Smith and Domenik Hixon, respectively.

The competition should be even tougher this year, as everyone in the division got stronger through the draft and offseason moves. Most notably, the Eagles added the No. 2 rated WR Jeremy Maclin and RB LeSean McCoy, who broke Tony Dorsett's NCAA record of 24 rushing TD's for a frosh/soph with 35 of his own.

I am supremely confident that, although the division will leave battered and bruised, the G-Men will come out on top, primed to go deep into the playoffs. As was shown during their last Super Bowl run, it is better to play hard the whole season; this will keep the team's mind focused on the goal of raising another Lombardi trophy.
