Predictions and the Hockey Gurus
The hockey Gurus (because they know every nuance of the sport) like to tout,– with conviction — the outcome of every game and the winner of each series; even who will be the final teams vying for The Stanley Cup. Perhaps they have no better concrete idea, than you or I (hockey fans picking our favorite team.) on which team to pick or player to choose to be the MVP of the players. Predictions are just that, predictions and are subject to elements out of the control of the predictor; injuries, suspensions, bad goaltending, bad calls. of course it may come down to who stays healthy. Take note now that three key defensemen have possibly been lost for the entire play-offs. The Canucks will probably not see the return of Sami Salo, the Ducks have not much hope of James Wisniewski coming back, and in last night’s game between, Pittsburg and Washington, Sergei Gonchar received a stunning blow to his knee, from Alexander Ovechkin, to put him out of further action. It has been suggested that the league will review the incident. Ovechchin put in another lack-luster performance, and Simeon Varlamov was anything but impressive, as he gave up five goals to the Penguins. Pittsburg seems to be back in stride. So Saturday’s, back to back game, between the Pens and the Caps, will see whether –the poor performance of Varlamov or the stellar performance of Pittsburg — will give any portent as to who will take the lead in the series.
Looking forward to watching the games today and giving you food for thought, like…is Ovechkin done with the hit he laid out Gonchar with, are the Penguins inside of Varlamov’s head, is Boston toast, can Vancouver rebound, can it be an Anaheim versus Carolina finnal and can the NHL get its act together with Phoenix.
