NFL Players Already Suspended to Start 2013-14 Season
It has been obvious this offseason—the NFL has a problem with player arrests.
But it may have a serious issue with substance abuse and performance-enhancing drugs as well.
While many more players have been arrested in 2013 than those hit with a suspension for using a banned substance, Roger Goodell has two separate off-field manners to deal with heading into the season.
Here's a list of all the players who've been suspended to start the year.
Rob Jackson, LB, Washington Redskins
1 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: Banned substance
Suspended on March 20 for testing positive for a banned substance.
Rob Jackson, a former seventh-round pick out of Kansas State, played in all 16 games in 2012 for the Washington Redskins and logged 14 starts at linebacker. He had 4.5 sacks and four interceptions.
Christian Thompson, DB, Baltimore Ravens

Offense: PED
Suspended without pay on April 1 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Christian Thompson, a defensive back who played his collegiate ball at South Carolina State, appeared in seven games last season for the Baltimore Ravens but did not accumulate any defensive statistics.
Daryl Washington, LB, Arizona Cardinals
3 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on April 3 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Last year, Daryl Washington led the Arizona Cardinals in tackles (134) and had nine sacks from his inside linebacker position. He was a second-team All-Pro and made his first Pro Bowl.
Justin Blackmon, WR, Jacksonville Jaguars
4 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on April 30 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Justin Blackmon set Jacksonville Jaguars franchise records for rookie receptions (64), receiving yards (865) and yards per reception (13.5) in 2012. The former first-round pick also caught five touchdowns.
Bruce Irvin, DE, Seattle Seahawks
5 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: PED
Suspended on May 17 for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance abuse policy.
Seattle selected Irvin in the first round of the 2012 draft out of West Virginia. He had eight sacks in 16 games as a rookie.
Rokevious Watkins, OL, St. Louis Rams
6 of 14Suspension: One game
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on May 22 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
A 6'4", 338-pound offensive lineman, Rokevious Watkins joined the St. Louis Rams in the fifth round of the 2012 draft. He appeared in one game a season ago.
Isaiah Pead, RB, St. Louis Rams
7 of 14Suspension: One game
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on May 31 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Isaiah Pead was the 50th overall selection in the 2012 draft but finished his rookie campaign with only 10 carries for 54 yards. He has yet to score a touchdown in the NFL.
Gabe Miller, TE, Chicago Bears
8 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: PED
Suspended without pay on June 4 for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance abuse policy.
Gabe Miller played linebacker at Oregon State University and started his career with the Kansas City Chiefs. He has yet to appear in an NFL game.
Josh Gordon, WR, Cleveland Browns
9 of 14Suspension: Two games
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspending on June 7 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Josh Gordon was a second-round pick by the Cleveland Browns in the 2012 supplemental draft. He caught 50 passes for 805 yards with five touchdowns in 2012.
LaVon Brazill, WR, Indianapolis Colts
10 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on June 24 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
LaVon Brazill played at Ohio University; the Indianapolis Colts picked him in the sixth round of the 2012 draft. He caught 11 passes for 186 yards with a touchdown last season.
Brandon Collins, WR, New York Giants
11 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on June 24 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Brandon Collins was a member of the New York Giants practice squad a season ago and has yet to appear in an NFL game. He played his college ball at Southeastern Louisiana University after starting at the University of Texas.
Weslye Saunders, TE, Indianapolis Colts
12 of 14Suspension: Eight games
Offense: PED
Suspended without pay on July 18 for violating the league's performance-enhancing substance abuse policy.
Weslye Saunders went to South Carolina and started his NFL career with the Pittsburgh Steelers in 2011. He has six career catches and one touchdown. Last season, he started four games for the Indianapolis Colts.
Will Hill, S, New York Giants
13 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on July 20 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy.
Will Hill played for the Florida Gators and appeared in 12 games in 2012 for the New York Giants.
Von Miller, LB, Denver Broncos
14 of 14Suspension: Four games
Offense: Substance abuse
Suspended on July 22 for violating the league's substance-abuse policy. He is appealing the suspension.
Von Miller was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2011 draft. He has 30 sacks in 31 career NFL games for the Denver Broncos. He was a first-team All-Pro in 2012.
