Cristiano Ronaldo Will 'End His Career' with Real Madrid, Says Florentino Perez

Tim DanielsJun 4, 2018

Amid the annual speculation about Cristiano Ronaldo's future, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has made the club's stance clear. He states there's no plan to move the dynamic superstar now or at any point in the future.ย

The Press Association (via The Guardian) passed along Perez's comments made to French outlet L'Equipe.

"

Cristiano Ronaldo is the cornerstone of our project. He's the world's greatest player and I can now say that he will end his career at Real Madrid. We haven't received any offer for Cristiano Ronaldo.

Although the remarks don't come as any surprise given Ronaldo's importance to the La Liga powerhouse, they are necessary. Otherwise, the rumors will continue to dominate the headlines, even if there's no truth to them.

As mentioned in the report, the 28-year-old forward has been linked to Manchester United, one of his former clubs, and Paris Saint-Germain since the end of last season. Perez states neither side actually made an offer, though.

By taking such a firm stance, the Real president shows how highly the club continues to view its most valuable asset. Ronaldo is still in the prime of his extraordinary career, and there's no way Los Blancos would be able to replace him.

The Portuguese international scored 46 goals in 46 appearances across La Liga and Champions League play last season. Those numbers further emphasize his reputation as one of the world's most dangerous attacking talents.

Real Madrid can't afford to lose that type of production now, or at any point before the worldwide sensation decides to retire, if Perez's prediction about Ronaldo staying through the end of his career holds true.

While the comments won't completely eliminate the rumorsโ€”there's nothing Perez could say that wouldโ€”it should at least significantly decrease the frequency of speculation.ย

It's quite obvious Real Madrid are confident about keeping Ronaldo in the mix for a long time.
