The Open Championship 2013 TV Coverage: When and Where to Catch Day Three Action

Tom SunderlandJul 20, 2013

Two days down and there’s two left to go in this year’s Open Championship, with more than a few star names failing to make the cut at the halfway stage.

Having said that, however, there’s still the annual share of worldly talent left in the field, currently navigating Muirfield’s links course better than others.

With Miguel Angel Jimenez currently leading the field at just three-under-par, it’s fair to say the majority have found the demands of the Scottish location tougher to navigate than others.

However, such a twist only helps in intensifying the entertainment, which will undoubtedly only get better over the next 48 hours or so.

Read on to find just how you can ensure you don’t miss a minute of the action unfold in East Lothian.

What: The 142nd Open Championship 2013, Day Three

When: Saturday, 20 July, Group 105 Tee Off 3:10 a.m. ET/8:10 a.m. BST

Where: Muirfield Golf Links, Gullane, East Lothian, Scotland

Watch: BBC Two (UK), ESPN (USA)

Stream: BBC Sport Website (UK), ESPN Live Stream (USA)

Notable Pairing Tee Times

Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia—5:55 a.m. ET/10:55 a.m. BST

Having established a feud back in 2008, the pairing of Padraig Harrington and Sergio Garcia has an interesting touch of spice to it.

BBC Sport's Iain Carter made sure to point out this aspect on Twitter:

As was reported by the Daily Mail at the time, Harrington described the two as “having nothing in common,” calling his Spanish opponent his “opposite.”

"

We have zero in common, bar the fact that we both play golf. He is the antithesis of me, and I am the antithesis of him. We play the game in exactly the opposite way. He is destined to find the long game easy and the short game hard, and I am the opposite.

"

Just how such a dynamic currently stands and whether or not it will play a part in their Day Three play is debatable, but it gives something else to watch out for nonetheless.

Jason Day and Hunter Mahan—8:35 a.m. ET/13:35 p.m. BST

So far in this competition, neither Jason Day nor Hunter Mahan have managed to finish a day at Muirfiled under par, so to think the duo were due a good day out on the links course wouldn’t be absurd.

On his day (no pun intended), Day has shown himself to be a fierce competitor alongside the very best in golf, having gone close to the wire on numerous occasions in recent years.

Although the Australian is yet to win a major, he’s finished in the top 10 of a major championship on five occasions.

Mahan also has five top 10 major finishes to his name, and after hitting one-over-par on each of his first two days at Muirfield, will be keen to make those key improvements on Day Three.

Tiger Woods and Lee Westwood—10:10 a.m. ET/15:10 p.m. BST

Despite a shaky start from the tournament favourite, Tiger Woods has come storming back into the reckoning at The Open, enjoying a far more fruitful back nine on each of his first two days this week.

Lee Westwood, on the other hand, has played in quite opposite fashion, making up good ground in his opening holes only to let what could’ve been a fantastic score go to waste slightly.

Regardless, BBC Sport's Dan Walker made sure to take note of the Englishman's play via Twitter:

Both poised at two-under-par, this major is very much within reach for each golf giant, Woods looking to tie up his 15th and Westwood hoping to claim just his first.
