Ring Rap With Matt:Smackdown Review (may 8th)

Hello everyone.Thank you for joining for my weekly Smackdown review.

Folks this is normally the part of my review where I try to be witty and amusing. I'm just gonna skip all that nonsense today, and just say Smackdown was off the hook.

Right now IMO it is the show to watch not Raw.Its clear that smackdown has most of the guys that can actually put on a good match.

I have to say starting with Jericho all the way to Charlie Haas. Just a super job all the way around.

On a side note if you didn't see the Morrison vs Jericho match.Do yourself a favor You tube it I promise you wont regret it.

With all that being said its Friday night and its time for SMACKDOWN!!!!

We start things of with Teddy long and He seems to be in a good mood.He wants us to welcome back the face of Smackdown Rey Mysterio.Mysterio comes out starts to give Jeff his props .

The pint size warrior goes on to send out a open challange for the IC title when all of a sudden......

The pyros go off and out comes Fancy lad Jericho.He  gets in Teddy longs face and he demands that he be announced the face of Smackdown.The playa playa says he wont .

Jericho starts to go off on Teddy long Rey Rey has had enough ,he tells Jericho to shut up and pushes Jericho to that mat then leaves.On his way back he runs into the man of a 1000 colors , I guess he has something on his mind also.

Jeff tells Jericho that he is sick of him and all that stuff .He then says ;that if the man with the boyish haircut can beat him tonight he is in the title match.

Jeff slaps Jericho in the face  Jericho leaves and as he is leaving Teddy confirms what Jeff just said.

This was another great open to Smackdown .As all 3 of the top dogs on Smackdown jocky for position.

(On the side I wanted to mention JR said that Rey  is the biggest star in Smackdown History.Am I missing something or did the Rock not exist.)

We come back R-Goof is coming to the ring via the steps with the fans .He keeps asking us whats up .How the hell should I know it cant be your career though.

R-Truth vs Mike Knox

This was nice little quick opener to get Mike Knox introduced to the show.R-Truth  got in a couple nice moves including a scissors kick and drop kick from the top.

In the end though it was just another R-Truth job .Knox got in some decent power moves and ended it with what looked like a inverted face buster. I could be wrong though.

We come back from commercial to see Michelle Mc cool coming down to the ring for her match with Gail Kim.

Michelle Mc Cool vs  Gail Kim

Some decent back and forth stuff in this one.Mc cool scores a nice arm drag take down and scissor hold in Kim.Gail comes back with a drop toe hold and scores a block buster of the top.

Gail gets caught up with Michelle while trying to pull a move of.For her troubles she gets hit with the face breaker for the 3 count.

(I would like to have seen these two go at it a little longer , but all in all decent match by both.)

In the back Jeff is being interviewed he talks a little about Jericho and edge.He then states he will be the new heavyweight champ.

We then go right to Edge complaing that Teddy is abusing his power and all that jazz.His complaints are rewarded with a match vs CM Punk.

John Morrison vs Charlie Haas

This starts of a little slow but picks up quick.Morrison gets a spring board of the top.Haas scores a good looking double arm suplex .This is followed with a boot to the head and a nice inverted back breaker.

Morrison then nails Haas with a awesome reverse drop kick .This is followed with a very nice running insagurie.

He then hits Haas with a knee to the head .Morrison takes advantage and nails Haas with a corkscrew Moonsault of the ropes.

(This was a very entertaining match , good work by both Morrison and Haas.I was happy to see Haas do something besides dress up as other people .For my money if used right Hass  could be much bigger then he is.)

CM Punk vs Edge non title match

This was good main event type match .The crowd was into it and the action  was fast paced .

Punk scores a nice arm drag take down early .Edge is flipped out side then Punk dives thru the ropes.Edge then turns the tables with a monster boot after punk misses of the ropes.

Punk trys to get the go to sleep that is reversed into a submission hold.It goes like this for awhile with these two.At one point in the match they both nail the cross body on  each other and lay each other out.

Lots of high spots and reversals up into this point . In the end though Edge goes for the spear and misses .He then decides to take the count out for the loss.

After the match Umanga assaults Punk again.

(Another good show by these two not thrilled with the end.It did serve its purpose though.)

We come back from commercial to see Cryme time in the ring with .They inform us that we are going to see a Cryme time hand slam jammy jam contest.

This was just nonsense lol cant they find something better to do with these guys.Eve wins again we see another cat fight.

(Jr at some point during all this crap comments on Eves breasts.It was short thank god but still pointless.)

Diggler comes out to the ring and says he is going to run thru the entire roster.He then sends out a open challenge.

Dolph Ziggler vs The Great Khali

This was   the worst match of the night .Dolph cant score any offense gets frustrated and beats Khali with a chair for the DQ.

(I will say it again why is he even on the show.If someone can give me a valid reason for him being in their then please tell me.)

Jeff Hardy vs Chris Jericho

Edge is at the table with JR and Todd I think we know what that means folks.

Jericho scored a quick kick and takes over early.Jeff comes back with the spear  then he takes over .I think you kiddies can see how this one will go.

While Jericho is down Hardy goes to the top Jericho sees this and leaves.He then is greeted by Rey Mysterio.This causes Jericho to be distracted he gets thrown onto the barriers.

Jeff trys to then nail Jericho with the flying legs but misses.Jericho then throws Hardy into edge.Jeff barley makes the 10 count , and when he goes in Jericho goes for the quick pin and gets a 2.

We come back from commercial Jericho is on control.He nails the hang man on Jeff at this point Jericho gets a little cocky .

Jeff takes advantage Jericho is quickly on the mat Jeff nails the whisper in the wind for the 2.They both continue to go at it , and Jericho gets Jeff in the walls but hardy makes the ropes.

Jeff later scores a face buster but misses of the top. Jericho then hits the Lionsault for another near fall.It continues on this way at some point Edge distracts Jericho hardy gets the roll up for the 2 again.

Jericho almost gets the 3 because he is using the ropes .This time though Rey Mysterio distracts him.Jeff swiftly nails the twist of fate and then the swan ton for the 3.

Mysterio after the match hits Jericho of the top.Which is what most likely will start their feud.

My final thoughts

Another good solid week for the Smackdown boys .At this point they are really putting raw to shame.If I had to guess expect a Jericho vs Mysterio match at Judgement day.
