MAGIC-ally Delicious! Orlando Goes Up 2-1.

Tony RoseMay 8, 2009

The Orlando Magic's big 3, plus 1, lead the way and take a 2-1 series lead over the defending world champion Boston Celtics beating them 117-96. Forward Rashard Lewis led the way for the Magic with 28 points on 9-of-17 shooting including three triples and six rebounds.

Lewis had plenty of help from mates, Dwight Howard and Hedo Turkuglo.  Howard had 17 pts (7-of-8 from the field), 14 rebounds and five big blocked shots. Turkoglu was seen smiling late in the 4th quarter having his best shooting game of the series thus far adding 24 points on 8-of-12 shooting including 2-of-3 from beyond the three point line.

Maybe lost in the big win was Anthony Johnson filling in handily for suspended PG Rafer Alston after slapping Celtic guard Eddie House in the back of his head in the game 2 loss. Johnson scored 13 points on 5-of-7 shooting and added three assists and three boards.

Paul Pierce of the Celtics did all he could to keep his team in the game with 27 points and 6 assists and Eddie House continued his clutch shooting adding 15 points on 6-of-7 shooting including 3-of-4 from behind the arc.

Coach Doc Rivers finally conceded the game taking out his starters with 4:10 left in the game shortly after back up center Marcin Gortat slammed the door shut with a thunderous dunk putting the Magic up 105 to 87.

The Magic who lost only nine games at home all season look to continue to ride that home court advantage in game 4 on Sunday at 8 p.m.
