TNA Impact Wrestling: Rumors, News, Bound for Glory Update and July 18 Preview

Jun 8, 2018

When TNA’s Impact Wrestling travels to Louisville for the special Destination X edition of the Thursday broadcast, the excitement from the fans of the sport will be through the roof because of the pay-per-view quality show.

This week’s Impact should be the best of 2013.

Expectations for this event are high, and the company is depending on this free pay-per-view to draw in huge television numbers.

With a TNA World Heavyweight Championship match and plenty of other storylines to follow, casual and hardcore fans alike won’t want to miss Thursday’s episode of Impact Wrestling.

Where: Broadbent Arena, Louisville, Ky.

When: Thursday, July 18 at 9 p.m. ET

Watch: Spike TV

Destination Impact

Former X Division champion Chris Sabin has cashed in his title for the chance to fight Bully Ray for the company’s marquee championship at Destination X, and Thursday’s special edition of Impact Wrestling will feature Bully Ray vs. Sabin for the strap on live television.

This makes for a very special main event.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Sabin Win the World Title?

Although Austin Aries set the precedent for the X Division champion to cash in the title and win the big belt last year, Sabin does not have the momentum that Aries did. Add in the fact that Bully Ray and the Aces & Eights are as strong as ever right now, and the odds will be stacked against the smaller challenger on Thursday.

Hype Meter: 4 out of 5 Great Main Events

While Sabin is unlikely to actually win the TNA World Heavyweight title, the fact that he is even fighting for it will be a huge rub for his character. After coming back from two major knee surgeries, the former tag team star has blossomed into one of the best singles competitors and this bout is a testament to what he has accomplished.

Bully Ray will retain his championship, though.

Main Event Mafia vs. Aces & Eights

Now that all the new members of the new Main Event Mafia have been revealed—Sting, Kurt Angle, Samoa Joe, Magnus and Rampage Jackson—it’s time for the group to do what they formed to accomplish; stop the Aces & Eights from tearing TNA apart.

Question on Everybody's Mind: Will Anything Truly Change?

Sting has developed and formed several coalitions over the past months in order to stop the Aces & Eights gang, but nothing has worked. While the new Main Event Mafia is a group of talented workers and personalities, many fans are skeptical that the stable will be able to change what’s been going on in TNA.

Hype Meter: 2 out of 5 Survivor Series Matches

There are five members of the Main Event Mafia, and there is little doubt that the group will hit the ring during Destination X and call out the motorcycle gang for a huge fight. With several other matches on the card, the easiest way to start this battle is to have a five-on-five tag team match with a convoluted finish that could set up something huge at Bound for Glory.

Hopefully at Bound for Glory, the caveat will be that the losing stable must disband.
