Ross DunbarJun 8, 2018

The British Open Championship, one of the four golfing majors, begins on Thursday morning at Muirfield in Scotland.

The 142nd competition brings together the top golfers from around the world, as they look to lift the Claret Jug, like South African Ernie Els did in 2012.

The last UK winner of the competition was Darren Clarke in 2011, and his fellow countrymen Rory McIlroy and Graeme McDowell will be keen to follow in his path.
