The Complete Houston Texans Training Camp Guide

0 of 7

Gear up, training camp is almost here, and the NFL season is almost upon us. Ah, it's beautiful really. Soon, our lives will be consumed with football. Awesome.

Anyway, the Houston Texans will be entering training camp with a chip on their shoulder. They believed they were serious contenders last season, but a devastating loss to the New England Patriots in the playoffs showed the team just how difficult it is to make it to the Super Bowl.

At training camp, though, the focus will be on developing young talent. The Texans, behind their veterans, have a nice core of young players who need to get experience fast. Training camp is the perfect place for it.

Training camp plays a critical role in the development of a team, and here is the full Texans' training camp breakdown, detailing the most important aspects of the Texans' summer practices.

Roster Breakdown

2 of 7

Currently, the Texans have 90 players on their roster. Each and every player has something to offer to the Texans, but unfortunately, many of them will not be given an opportunity to prove their worth during the regular season.

Even the most unknown player on an NFL roster almost always has some role to play, usually on special teams. This makes every single player important to an NFL franchise.

Burning Questions

3 of 7

As the Texans approach the regular season, hundreds of questions burn at the team.

How will the defense stop elite quarterbacks? How will the offensive line hold up? Who will win the starting right tackle job? Is this player healthy?

We narrowed down these questions to the most specific, important ones pertaining to the Texans' training camp.

Biggest Camp Battles

4 of 7

The Texans have a pretty stacked roster, but that doesn't mean the team won't enjoy its fair share of competitive roster battles during training camp.

In fact, two starting jobs will be up for grabs during training camp.

Besides that, numerous players will battle it out for backup and third-string jobs. While those competitions may seem insignificant to some fans, they can actually determine a player's career.

Rookie and UDFA Watch

5 of 7

The most exciting part of training camp is watching the progress of rookies, especially the highly drafted ones.

Both DeAndre Hopkins and D.J. Swearinger are supposed to play major roles for the Texans this season. How will they hold up? Can they succeed?

Behind those two, though, the Texans have a litany of rookies looking to make an impact, whether they were drafted or undrafted.

Bubble Watch

6 of 7

One of the most worthwhile parts of training camp is watching players lay it all on the line to make an NFL roster.

Players on the bubble are fighting for their careers. If they get cut, it could signify the end of their season. No job, no paycheck.

Players who are in danger of getting cut play harder than anyone else. For a list of the Texans' players who are on the bubble, click here.

Projected 53-Man Final Roster

7 of 7

The Texans, as mentioned earlier, currently have 90 players on the roster. Before the regular season starts, they will have to narrow it down to 53 players.

That means 37 players will get cut.

It is certainly difficult to shave a roster down by that significant of a margin, and the Texans' coaching staff will certainly have their work set out for them during training camp.
