I Love JaMarcus Russell's Potential, But...

Or should I say BUTT!

I write this article at the cusp of a pre mini camp work outs. My intent is not to bash JR because he has already shown me enough to give him my loyalty through heads up plays after his first true rookie season.

I just have a few things to mention on the subject of JR that he can change and are not out of reach intangibles.

first, he's a big boy no doubt about it and he is very young. BUTT as a man matures he is supposed to shed any excessive "Baby fat" off of his body especially if he is an athlete.

He is listed at 6-6 260, that would be nice but if anyone here thinks he weighs 260 your kidding yourselves. He is more like 275-280. My point being he had shown elusiveness during some broken up plays to avoid the rushers and still get the ball down the field for a reception BUTT had also one too many times been caught by large defensive players which OK is not his fault as much as a poor offensive line. BUTT what if he came into camp looking more toned and in superior cardiovascular condition. Imagine how much more effective and elusive this kid could be.

Secondly, you all saw the plays where it was third or forth down and gaol and we were on the five yard line of the end zone JR roles out looking for his receiver's nothing is there so he tucks the ball in and runs in for the score. Oh wait that was not the case he got flattened by a smaller defender, what the heck? So although I appreciate having a QB who looks to pass the ball rather than running it, I would like to see him better leverage his size by being more aggressive in those types of situation. That's all I have thank you and lets hope that JR comes in donning a more sleek look for 09'10' season, BUTT we will just have to wait and see.
