Being the starting pitcher for the National League team in the 2013 All-Star Game probably means you can't walk down the street without being mobbed by fans in the city you play in, right?

Well, no, not necessarily.

New York Mets pitcher Matt Harvey found that out for himself, as he interviewed unsuspecting fans in New York in a segment for Late Night with Jimmy Fallon. The results, as one might expect, were hilarious.

Harvey asked questions about whether he would start in the All-Star Game, what fans thought of his recent ESPN The Magazine appearance and potential advice they may have for the star if he were standing right next to them.

Most fans answered his questions without acknowledging that he was, in fact, standing right beside them.

The 24-year-old ace has done plenty to boost his public profile recently. Not only has he posted a 7-2 record with a WHIP of .92 and an ERA of 2.35, he recently posed nude in the ESPN The Magazine Body Issue and was named the starter for the National League team by manager Bruce Bochy.

One fan Harvey interviewed didn't agree with Bochy's decision—he argued that Harvey hasn't proved himself in just his second year in the majors, preferring Clayton Kershaw of the Los Angeles Dodgers

Perhaps leading the National League side to a win on Tuesday night will garner him more attention from the fans who root for his Mets.
