PSG to Sign Two More Mega Deals
1 of 7PSG have no problem spending big, and with the introduction of Monaco to the French top flight, they've been given even more encouragement to sign new players.
L'Equipe (in French) are reporting that Napoli's Edinson Cavani is close to signing, perhaps on Monday or Tuesday, for the Ligue 1 champions. A five-year deal worth โฌ10 million a year for the striker is on the table.
Furthermore,ย Gazzetta (in Italian, h/t O Estado do Sao Paulo) are indicating that AS Roma defender Marquinhos is also moving to the French capital in a deal worth โฌ35 million.
These would be the first signings of the season for PSG.
Leandro Damiao: The Replacement
2 of 7With Cavani leaving Napoli, Rafael Benitez would have a big position to fill up frontโand plenty of money with which to do it.
AS (in Spanish) are reportingย that Napoli's No. 1 choice is Internacional striker Leandro Damiao. An initial offer of โฌ18 million was rejected, but the article states that there is now an agreement of โฌ22 million between the two clubs.
Damiao is 23 years old and has 17 caps for Brazil, scoring three times.
Albert Riera Back to Spain?
3 of 7Villarreal were, not so long ago, a club challenging in the latter stages of the Champions League, before their untimely demise and relegation to the Segunda. Promoted last season once more, the Yellow Submarine will be looking to strengthen this summer in a bid to rebuild.
With that in mind, Omid Sokout ofย Marcaย (in Spanish) reports that they are targeting versatile left-sided player Albert Riera.
Currently at Galatasaray, Riera can play in defence or in midfield, and he would likely be available on a free transfer. The sticking point is his wagesโthey're rumoured at โฌ60,000 per week, which is unaffordable at this point for Villarreal.
Gonzalo Higuain Latest
4 of 7All summer, Arsenal have been linked with a move for Gonzalo Higuain, but so far, nothing has materialised for the Argentine striker, who wants out of Real Madrid this year.
Jamie Sanderson ofย Metro is now reporting that the Gunners are getting fed up waiting for Higuain to decide on his future. They are telling the forward to hurry up and decide if he wants to join them or not, as they have other targets in mind.
A ยฃ25 million transfer fee and wages of ยฃ150,000 per week are at stake in the deal.
Marouane Fellaini
5 of 7Marouane Fellaini has been linked with a move away from Everton this summer after it was revealed he had a release clause in his contract. However, now it seems there is a deadline on that clause being activated.
Matt Law ofย Mirror Football reports that the likes of Arsenal and Manchester United only have until August 14 to make the most of the exit clause to sign Fellaini for ยฃ23.5 million. After that date, the Toffees are likely to demand upward of ยฃ30 million for the Belgian.
Everton have apparently set the date to ensure they still have time to reinvest the funds if the midfielder does depart.
Ivanovic on PSG's Radar
6 of 7Back to PSG now, and John Cross ofย Mirror Football is reporting that they are looking for another defender in Chelsea's versatile Serb, Branislav Ivanovic.
Capable of playing at right-back and in the centre, Ivanovic is the subject of an estimated ยฃ8 million bid, which would see him sign a four-year deal at PSG if Chelsea allow him to leave.
The report also indicates that there is still uncertainty over the future of fellow defender David Luiz.
Quick Kicks
7 of 7Manchester City have told Sevilla they will go up to โฌ23 million for Alvaro Negredo, but club president Jose Maria del Nido still wants a higher bid from them, as perย Marca.
Both Roma and Marseille want to sign Arsenal's Gervinho, who is available for around ยฃ7 millionย according to Wayne Veysey at Goal.com.
