Chelsea Transfer Rumours: Catching Up on Latest Luis Suarez Chatter

With players like Edinson Cavani and Robert Lewandowski slipping out of Chelsea's grasp, the pressure to try to land Luis Suarez is growing. 

The Express' Charles Perrin shares that Cavani is close to finalizing a deal with PSG, while Lewandowski will be returning to Borussia Dortmund.

Chelsea is losing out on possibilities to add a little scoring. 

However, Liverpool's Luis Suarez is still out there, and Chelsea has shown interest in the striker. 

In a different article, Perrin went as far as labeling the Blues as the leaders to land Suarez:

Suarez's future has been the subject of unrelenting speculation, with the Uruguayan talking up a move to Real Madrid after hitting out at the English press for what he perceived to be unfair treatment of him.

But the Blues it seems are the frontrunners to capture his signature this summer.

The good news for Chelsea is that Suarez is anxious to get out of Anfield. After a tumultuous tenure in Liverpool, he is ready to leave, according to BBC Sport.

The bad news for Chelsea on this front is that they will have competition, and whatever happens, Suarez is not going to be cheap. 

The BBC's Phil McNulty reports that Real Madrid is in the driver's seat to land Suarez. He also reports that Liverpool has turned down a £30 million bid from Arsenal for Suarez. 

However, the London Evening Standard's Simon Johnson reports that Arsenal is not giving up in their efforts and is set to increase their bid. 

Of course, none of this means the 26-year-old Uruguayan is going anywhere. As McNulty points out, Liverpool isn't keen on losing Suarez, which explains the quick rejection of the Arsenal bid. 

However, do the Reds really want to hold on to a player who doesn't want to be there and has already had a difficult time keeping his emotions in check? Suarez's talent makes that a distinct possibility. If I were to pick a motivation for their stance, it is to try to raise the price on Suarez. 

Chelsea is quickly running out of striker targets, and the price on Suarez is likely climbing by the second. However, at least he remains a possibility.
