Fan Hunting at the Kentucky Derby
When you wake up on the Saturday of the Kentucky Derby in Louisville, head over to Churchill Downs and fork over $45 at the back gate for entry into the infamous infield, youโreย headed for some serious people watching.ย
The spectrum of people that you may cross paths with ranges from the sophisticated three-piece suit wearer to the guy who is covered head to toe in mud adorned in only his tidy (formerly) whities and damn near everything in between.ย Some do it fully aware of the spectacle they create and others are completely oblivious to it.ย
For my recent tour of the infield at the 2009 Kentucky Derby, I armed myself with a Flip camera in an effort to provide the JoeSportsFan.com faithful with at least a small glimpse into this one-of-a-kind fan hunting paradise.ย It just seemed appropriate that it be set to โMy Old Kentucky Homeโ as the soundtrackโฆ

Others that didnโt make the cut on the video include:
The guy who somehow found a way to integrate a #69 jersey into horse racingโฆ
The professional โmuff diverโโฆ
Nikki Sixx from Motley Crueโฆ
And those poor souls who didnโt even make it inside, likely because they look like Teen Wolfโs dadโฆ
Trust me when I say that this is only the tip of a really freaking weird iceberg.
