Kim Sears is Perfect Partner for Andy Murray's Rise to the Top

Tim KeeneyJul 9, 2013

In the year since Andy Murray lost to Roger Federer in the 2012 Wimbledon final, he has won Olympic gold, taken home his first-ever major with a victory at the U.S. Open and become the first British man in 77 years to win Wimbledon.

Although he still remains just under 3,000 points behind Novak Djokovic in the world rankings, it has become clear Murray, who has made it to the finals of four of the last five majors, is coming for that No. 1 spot.

But becoming the top player in the world is more than just having talent and determination, which Murray has oodles of.

It's about having the right coach. Check (cue Ivan Lendl, looking stoic as always).

And it's about having the right support. Double check.

Not only does Murray have his loving parents cheering him on, but he has Kim Sears, the perfect tennis girlfriend.

It's a little difficult to generalize or easily define the "perfect girlfriend," but in a sport like tennis where eloquence, enthusiasm and a calm demeanor are key, you're basically looking for a significant other who is the exact opposite of Kim Kardashian.

Sears is just that.

She's an artist, specializing in big, upbeat, colorful, full-of-life paintings of animals. According to her website, she is seeking out to do something that she loves—and succeeding.

She's a fashionista, most recently blowing everyone away with her beauty at the Wimbledon final.

Most importantly, she has been with Murray for eight years, staying true to the high-profile star through the highs and lows of his sometimes roller-coaster career.

There's no way to quantify exactly what it means to have the right support in your corner, but one thing is clear: Andy Murray is headed for great things, and Sears is the ideal, incredibly supportive, charming lady to have by his side.
