Bad Blood Between Fans Fuels Raiders Rivalries in AFC West

I'm so tired of hearing Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers fans running there mouth, acting like they know everything about the Oakland Raiders franchise. It's one thing to speak on the Raiders, but it's another when you make statements that aren't true.

The two most common themes I hear are

1) The Oakland Raiders suck (24-72 last six seasons)

2) Al Davis is the reason for the Oakland Raiders not winning

I will be the first to admit that these last six seasons have been hard on the Raider Nation, here in Oakland we take pride in our history being a dominate team, a winning franchise, committed to excellence.

As a Raider fan I look to my team as the hardest team in the NFL, when you put on that Sliver and Black, you are repping Oakland, California. You are repping the Bay Area, you are repping the Raider Nation fan base.

We as Raiders fans want nothing more then cheer for a winning team, this is what we are used to, this is what we expect. For the last six seasons, it has been disappointment after disappointment. Looking back on the past six seasons its easy to see the mistakes our franchise has made.

For the first time since 2003, our franchise is going in the right direction, the pieces have been added but more importantly our team will have a solid foundation, a change has happened in Oakland, but AFC West fans are blind to the fact.

To Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers fans, they look at as if these last six seasons have been the way our franchise has been forever . That Al Davis has no clue on how to run a franchise or draft NFL talent, and that Davis is the sole reason that Oakland Raiders haven't been the dominating force that we once where.

Where talking six seasons, but what is the true meaning of a NFL season? To win the Super Bowl, only one team a season can be labeled great, the other 31 teams, no matter how you feel your season went, it was a disappointment.

Chiefs, Broncos, and Chargers fans want to poke fun at us for the last six seasons, lets take a look into the Cheifs, Broncos, and Chargers history, and state some real facts...

Kansas City Chiefs Fans

The last time the Kansas City Chiefs won a Super Bowl was 1970, Super Bowl IV. The last time the Kansas City Chiefs won a playoff game was 1993. The last time the Chiefs won the AFC West Championship was 2003-2004, prior to that it was 1997-1998.

Over the years the Chiefs have done nothing, a couple of good seasons here and there but overall this franchise hasn't done much but run there mouth. You want to talk about how Al Davis has done Oakland wrong, look what the Owners and GM's have done for the Chiefs since 1970.

Since Lamar Hunt death, his son Clark Hunt hasn't done anything, look at all the GM's and team presidents the Chiefs have ran through.

Jack Steadmen, Don Rossi, Jim Schaff, Carl Peterson.

For 19 years Carl Peterson ran that franchise into the ground and never produced a championship level team, but yet Chiefs fans love to hate on Al Davis.

Al Davis record as a Owner/GM is better then all of these guys put together, yet you want to sit here and talk about what Davis has done for these last six seasons?

Tell me, what have the Chiefs done since 1970?

Denver Broncos Fans

In the '60s the Denver Broncos where 39-97-4. Point im trying to make is that wheater its the past of present, franchises go through rough times (24-72 raiders last six seasons).

Broncos started in 1960, it wasn't until 1973, the Broncos recorded there first winning season. 1977 was the first time the Broncos went to the playoffs (lost in Superbowl)

1983 was when Elway arrived.

From 1983 to 1998 the Broncos played in 5 Super Bowls winning 2 of them. Since 1998 the Broncos have only won one playoff game.

My problem with the Denver Broncos is that they think they are this great franchise and that they are light years ahead of the Oakland Raiders, but really since Elway left the Broncos haven't done a damn thing either. Broncos fans make me sick.

From 1961-1981 Owner Gerald Phipps overall didn't have much success except for his lone Super Bowl defeat in 1978.

From 1981-1984 Owner Edgar Kraiser didn't win anything, at best getting John Elway in 1983.

From 1984 to current times Owner Pat Bowlen only success came in 1997 and 1998, since then the Broncos have been a decent franchise at best, however there is no room for Broncos fans to talk down on Al Davis.

Al Davis by himself has done more then Phipps, Kraiser, and Bowlen have ever done for the Broncos franchise.

San Diego Chargers Fans

Chargers fans love to point out how the Oakland Raiders weere beaten in the Super Bowl in 2003 by the Tampa Bay Bucs. Chargers fans love to hate on the Oakland Raiders during this down period.

I understand that San Diego holds a current 11 game winning streak over Oakland,and the fact that the Chargers have won three consecutive AFC West championships.

The reason why Chargers fans try to rub this in, is because of their bad past.

1994 was the last and only year the San Diego Chargers went to the Super Bowl.

Losing 49-26 to the San Francisco 49ers. This is a franchise that has never won a Super Bowl, this is a franchise that are losers, a franchise who for years haven't produced a championship level team.

From 1970-1978 the San Diego Chargers placed third or fourth in the AFC West every season.

Yet Chargers fans want to bash Al Davis for six losing seasons in a row.

The Chargers didn't win the AFC west championship until 1979, they also where AFC west champs in 1980 and 1981. However they where never able to do anything in the playoffs. Sounds like the current day Chargers, don't it?

2001 the San Diego Chargers drafted LT.

In 2003, the San Diego Chargers where tied with three other teams for the worst record in the NFL.

The tie-breaker gave the Chargers the 1st overall pick in 2004.

All I'm saying Chargers fans, is that you guys had your chances, year after year you guys flop, this has been going on since the AFL-NFL merger, you guys are so happy that your winning you want to talk all this shit, but real talk what have you guys ever done?

The NFL goes in cycles, in 2003 you guys where the worst team, just six seasons ago. You had your chances, if you believe that San Diego will always be on top of the AFC West your wrong. A new wave is soon to happen.

Look at the Chargers' Ownership/GM's.

Eugene V. Klein from 1966 to 1984, what did he ever bring to the San Deigo Chargers? Nothing.

In 1984, Alex Spanos took control as owner as the San Diego Chargers, from 1984 to 2009, the San Deigo Chargers haven't won anything. Spanos owns 97 percent of the team.

Chargers fans want to talk about Al Davis age, and how old he is, look at Spanos, he is 85 years old, his son Dean Spanos hasn't done anything either.

AJ Smith hasn't won anything, all talk, when it comes down to it, San Diego is garbage.

From 1982-2003 the San Diego Chargers only won two AFC West Championships. That's 21 seasons with only two division championships, yet you want to bash Oakland for being down for six seasons.

This is a franchise for years that have sucked, now that they had some recent success they want to act like there the greatest team to ever play.

I will admit, Shawne Marriman, Antiono Gates, Antonio Cromartie were great pickups in the draft but what have they done in the playoffs?

All and all, the battle still remains in the AFC West, this is something that has been going on before many of us were even alive, to only look at the past six seasons of Raiders football is wrong. Al Davis knows what he's doing, and the fact that he is still in charge running things is great, there is no other owner in the NFL I rather have in charge of Oakland.

The Oakland Raiders will be back. It's only a matter of time before the Raider Nation rises to the top of the AFC West again.
