Ohio State Football: Updating the Buckeyes' Top Recruiting Targets for 2014

National signing day is more than seven months away, and with 14 prospects already in the fold, Ohio State's 2014 recruiting class is filling up quickly.

Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes have already secured commitments from three of their primary targets. Four-star prospects Jamarco Jones (offensive tackle), Jalyn Holmes (defensive end) and Damon Webb (cornerback) highlight a group that ranks No. 3 in the country behind Texas and Alabama. 

Ohio State is far from done, however, and the coaching staff is targeting a number of elite prospects to close out this year's class.

Because of the scholarship restrictions brought on by Ohio State's recent NCAA violations, Meyer and the Buckeyes have to be selective with their remaining openings. Depending on early departures, Ohio State will likely have about 20 scholarships available for this year's recruiting cycle.

Which prospects are being recruited hardest by the coaching staff? Here's a look at the top remaining targets on the Buckeyes' recruiting board.

Raekwon McMillan, Inside Linebacker

McMillan, a 5-star prospect out of Hinesville, Ga., has been one of Ohio State's top targets, if not the top target, from the start.

The hard-hitting linebacker piled up 152 tackles during his junior season, and his play on the field netted scholarship offers from programs such as Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Notre Dame and USC.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, McMillan lists Ohio State and Alabama as his leaders, with Clemson also a contender for his services. 

Chad Mavety/Jermaine Eluemunor, Offensive Tackle

With a huge need for offensive linemen, the Buckeyes' coaching staff has targeted a pair of 4-star JUCO prospects to fill out this year's class.

Mavety, rated the No. 3 JUCO prospect in the country, is high on Ohio State, and most recruiting gurus expect him to end up in Columbus.

Eluemunor verbally committed to UCLA in June, but Meyer and the coaching staff didn't give up on the talented tackle. That decision appears to be paying off, as Eluemunor is still considering Ohio State, according to Miles Jospeh of ElevenWarriors.com.

Since Eluemunor's visit to Columbus two weeks ago, 12 recruiting experts have predicted that he will commit to the Buckeyes.

The limited number of scholarships may keep Ohio State from bringing in both prospects, though, so it could come down to who commits first for these two talented tackles.

Marshon Lattimore, Cornerback

Lattimore, a 6'0", 175-pound athlete out of Cleveland, is one of the top two-way prospects in the country, but most expect him to play defense in college.

Lattimore attends Glenville High School, an Ohio State pipeline that sent prospects such as Ted Ginn Jr., Troy Smith and  Donte Whitner to Columbus during the Jim Tressel era. Meyer has done a good job maintaining that pipeline by signing De'van Bogard (2012) and Christopher Worley (2013), and he can continue that success by securing Lattimore's commitment.

Alabama, Louisville, Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon and USC have all offered scholarships to Lattimore, but the Buckeyes are the favorites to land the Glenville standout.

Brandon Harris, Quarterback

Although Ohio State already landed 3-star quarterback Stephen Collier, Meyer is still actively recruiting Harris.

The 4-star quarterback threw for 2,673 yards and 26 passing touchdowns and ran for 677 yards and 12 touchdowns during his junior season.

Rated the top dual-threat quarterback in the country, Harris is considering Ohio State, Auburn and the home-state LSU Tigers. Harris will be announcing his college decision on July 18, according to the ElevenWarriors.com.
