Arsenal Player Ratings vs Manchester United
Manuel Almunia: 4: The hero of the first leg was turned into the villain as he destroyed any chance of Arsenal participating at Rome, when he seemed to be scared of the ball when Christiano Ronaldo fired in his long range effort.
When the damage was done however Almunia learnt from his errors and managed to save most of what was fired at him.
Bacary Sagna: 6: Probably the best of the dreadful back four. Did his best to contain Rooney and rarely looked like getting beaten down the right side. Did struggle in attack due to the immense midfielding defence from United.

Kolo Toure: 5: Stopped a few of the Manchester attacks but did not impose himself enough defensively and failed to lead his defensive pack. Seemed to be taken back by the pace and quick passing of Alex Ferguson's men.
Johan Djourou: 5: To negative and tentative when defending, he failed to put his body on the line. Sadly it was not the Djourou we have seen all season. Like Toure seemed agitated by the pace and speed of United.
Kieran Gibbs: 3.5:You have to feel sorry for the teenager. Truthfully he cost Arsenal with his memorable slip in the box which allowed Park to score the opener. His error cause a huge dent mentally for Arsenal and they never really recovered from then on. Really Wenger should have gone with Eboue.
Theo Walcott: 4: Where was Theo? Needed to get involved more and failed to use his speed at the right times. To be fair he was never supplied with the right balls and Evra and Rooney were superb on the Englishmen.
Cesc Fabregas: 5: Started sharply but after the two defensive blunders it was obvious the captain was not trying as hard as he normally would off. Did try to hold up the ball and find Walcott or Nasri but Carrick or Anderson always had the Spainard covered.
Alexandre Song: 4: Failed to make his presence felt in defence and failed to contain Ronaldo which was Songs job. Diaby may have been a better option or ever Djourou and have Song in the defensive line.
Samir Nasri: 7: Never stopped trying to get Arsenal into Rome but he was let down. Was always dangerous with the ball but only real had one or two players who he could pass to. A good effort.
Emmanuel Adebayor: 4: Another one who failed to impose himself and his presence was never there. Really didn't deserve to start and I don't recall the lanky Togolese forward touching the ball. Some fans are really hoping he is swapped for Santa Cruz or Villa.
Robin van Persie: 8: If only he had seen a bit more ball. Was easily the best Arsenal player and attacker. Was the biggest threat on goal and got the only real shots on goal. Created space for himself beautifully and the slotted home the "perfect penalty." Well done.
Substitutes
Nicklas Bendtner: 6: After his efforts against Portsmouth the Danish striker really should of started against United. Did manage to get a shot in and as usual his work ethic was evident. A tidy performance.
Emmanuel Eboue: 6.5: Replaced Gibbs at half time but really the Ivorian should of started. Added a much needed spark and never stopped running. Full marks for effort and enthusiasm.
