Ring Rap With Matt: Raw Review (May 5)

Matthew HesterMay 4, 2009

Hello everyone. As always thank you for taking the time to read my review.

Well kiddies its Monday night and you know that that means. It's wrastlin' time and we have a lot of unanswered questions.

Will MVP go ballin' on Sherri? Will Cena accept the Miz's challenge, will Orton punt the popcorn vendor because he gave him the wrong change?

Monday Night RAW

Who knows folks but we are about to find out because its time for Monday night RRRRRRRRAAAAAAAWWWWWWWWW!!!!!

We start of with highlights from Orton's feud with the game, Ya know just in case ya missed it the first 100 times they showed it. Followed by last week with Shane's attack with the kendo stick.

Cole and Lawler then let us that they are live in Buffalo. Where 20,000 + are waiting for the much anticipated Orton vs Shane McMahon match. We go right to the action.

Randy Orton vs Shane McMahon

This quickly goes all the way to bottom part of the stage area. Shane scores a bunch of weak punches .Orton comes back with his own. They eventually make there way back to the ring.

Shane puts Orton on the announce table. He  is about to go flying when Rhodes and DiBiase get involved. This turns into a three-on-one but I guess MVP got lonely. So he decided to go down to the ring to get lumped up to.

Well Legacy quickly disposes of Raw's new baller and turns their attention back to Shane. Cue up the music because out comes the wounded animal who clears house.

Legacy runs away but not before Vicki Guerrero comes out. She is a bit upset that her main event got ruined. So tonight later they will restart the main event.

But since everyone else wants to get involved. Vicki announces that MVP will wrestle Rhodes, and Batista will wrestle DiBiase. The winners will join their friends in the main event.

This was a decent way to start Raw but to me it felt a little forced. I guess its better them a hour long HHH promo though.

We come back to a raw fun fact."Did you know that in addition to the 2 million  females-More males watched Raw last Monday then any other show on NBC.

I wonder. How the hell did they figured that out? Secondly, does anybody care?

Matt Hardy vs Kofi Kingston

Matt comes to the ring and tells us that he is being forced again to wrestle. He also tells us that he is wrestling under protest.

This match starts of with a lot of reversals. Kofi hits matt's cast he sells it well, Kofi then goes of the top and misses. Matt then drops Kofi on the ropes he goes for the suplex. But it gets reversed into a neck breaker.

Kofi scores a drop kick and a nice cross body .Kofi hits his leg drop for the two count. Matt then tries to nail Kofi with the cast .He Misses and gets nailed with the insaguri for the one, two, three. After the match Matt lays him out with cast.

I'm not sure where they are going with the hardy injury. I hope it shapes up soon before it gets lame. Maybe I'm wrong on this, but the King started to heel in  this match a little.

We come back to Santino in the back talking to one of the divas. He tells her that Beth is not here due to catching the swine flu from Vicki and calls her a Pig.

Chavo steps in for his beloved aunt and tells him to cut the nonsense out or else.Santino then says sorry and tells Chavo to relay a message, he then proceeds to make pig noises.

If I said it once I will say it again funny stuff by Santino. He delivers every week and I have to say I was lmao.

We go to the  back and I guess the Big Show wants a piece of Cena. Vicki tells show that he wont be ready for a couple weeks, but lets the big show know that they will have a match at Judgement day.

MVP vs Cody Rhodes

Regal is at the booth. We all know what that means, but he tells Cole and the king that he feels besmirched about something or another.

I wonder if MVP is legitimately hurt. For starters, I noticed the knee brace on his left leg. Secondly he didn't move around well. This was mainly a match of reverses and quick take downs.

Did ya notice how Rhodes attacked MVP's other leg not the one he was limping on.

This was a so so match mainly because I think MVP might be hurt.Regal cheap shots MVP again I want to point out on his good leg. MVP looses via count out.

I hope for Raws sake M.VP is ok. He would be a big loss for Raw at this point in time.

We see a commercial  for next weeks Smackdown Jeff Hardy vs Chris Jericho. Folks, that one should be of the charts.

We go to the ring where Jerry Lawler tells us we are going to have a sing off. I'm dreading this already.

Gillian vs Festus

I will make this short and sweet they both were awful and I almost lost my hearing. Oh, and in case anyone did care, Festus won.

The Miz comes out has a little fun with Festus then tosses him out of the ring. He again calls out Cena. Miz says most of the same stuff from last week.

He does get a lot of heat when he questioned on why he was being booed. In fairness he had some good points.

He had a real  good line about Cena's new script being sent to the rock for toilet paper.

He continues to call Cena out he Finlay comes limping to the ring, only to have the big show assault him and leave him in a pile of bones in the ring.

I liked Miz's work on the stick ,good beat down by the show.I wont comment on the sing off.

We come back and guess who is in the ring? It's Jarod the Subway guy and he is our guest announcer. Shoot me, please. lol.

Micky James vs Maryse

This was a sloppy match from beginning to end IMO.The match mostly consisted of a lot of sissy hits. Micky James hits a decent drop kick on Maryse. Micky scores a ugly DDT for the one, two, three.

I expected better from these two. I know they didn't have much time, but you make the best with what you get they didn't do that.

The King says that maybe Jarod wants to give Micky James a foot long. HHHHMMMM 'm starting to wonder about the king.

We come back  DiBiase is already in the ring and ready

Batista vs Ted DiBiase

Another so so match Batista gets his power moves in. DiBiase gets in a nice drop kick and neck breaker. While DiBiase was in the corner he slaps the Animal.

This sends the Batista in a  rage. Batista kicks, punches and spears DiBiase all the while ignoring the ref's count DiBiase wins by DQ.

I thought this had potential as it turns out. This was just a ploy heading into the main event. I guess I should have know better.

We go the back Vicki and Chavo are talking. Chavo rats out Santino and tells Vicki that if he was the GM he would make MVP loose his title.

And if Batista gets involved he would loose his title show at judgement day. If either got involved in the main event. Vicki reluctantly agrees. Possible story line brewing between those two.

The Brian Kendrick vs Carlito

This was another squash for Brian Kendrick. Carlito beat him in less than five mins with the back stabber of the turnbuckles.

I like Brian Kendrick. If I were him, I would leave the WWE before his credibility is wrecked.

Shane McMahon vs Legacy

This one started of as you would expect it would a three on one attack. Shane did get in some decent action though.

Shane-O Mack hit a nice elbow of the top he also got in a solid neck breaker. Cody got in a awesome moonsault. I mean this sucker had some air, but he missed Shane.

Shane fought of all three valiantly. He put Orton on the  announce table .He then went to the top but missed it and went threw the table himself.

From their it was done Orton Wacs Shane's ankle with the chair a couple time on the steps. The ref trys to break it up Batista makes the run in save. Legacy scrambles away.

Orton gets on the stick and tells Batista that his judgement day is coming.

My final thoughts

This weeks Raw in my opinion was ok at best. Too many quick matches for my taste.

I think MVP might be hurt but I could be wrong lets hope so.I do not like what they are doing with Brian Kendrick.

Well thanks for taking the time to read. I will see you you next week. Good night and God bless.
