WWE RAW Rewind: Legacy Punches Shane's Ticket Home

Ron JohnsonMay 4, 2009

Following a video package of last week’s events involving Randy Orton, MVP and Shane McMahon, the show goes live with the arrival of the WWE Champion.

Randy Orton vs. Shane McMahon

As Orton waits for Shane to enter, Shane ambushes him from behind and takes the fight to the outside. Both men battle through the crowd with Shane keeping Orton in check with a series of punches.

The two finally make their way back to the ringside area with Shane planting a prone Orton onto a table. But Legacy arrives and assist their boss.

MVP then sprints down to help him, but he is quickly dropped by the numbers. After they toss him over the side, they focus back on Shane.

All of sudden, Batista comes in and cleans house, finishing it off with a spear to Cody Rhodes.

Following the escape, Vickie Guerrero comes out and makes an announcement about  tonight’s main event in which Shane McMahon will face Orton. MVP will face Rhodes and DiBiase will face Batista. The rules are simple: Win and you’re in the main event.

Matt Hardy vs. Kofi Kingston

Despite his protests, Hardy still fights. Both men try to get the upper hand on each other. Thanks to a few cheap moves, Hardy gets control over Kingston. But Kingston counters a suplex into a neck breaker to break Hardy’s momentum.

Kingston nails a set of chops before landing a dropkick and a high cross body. After hitting the Boom3 Leg Drop, Kingston ducks a clothesline and delivers the Trouble in Paradise to get the win over an “injured” Hardy. After the bell, Hardy drops him with a clothesline using the cast.

In the back, Santino is cracking jokes about RAW GM Vickie Guerrero, when Chavo arrives to intervene. Chavo tells him to mark his words, but Santino walks away and makes pig noises in the process.

Also, Big Show wants a match with John Cena tonight. Unfortunately, doctors won’t clear him for two weeks.

So she decides to make the match for Judgment Day: John Cena vs. Big Show. In the back, MVP is approached by The Bella Twins before his match with Cody Rhodes.

Win And You’re In Match: Cody Rhodes vs. MVP

Cody Rhodes tries to get control with a head scissors, but gets cut short by the United States Champion. Rhodes begins to focus on the legs as Shane watches in the back. Rhodes continues the pressure on MVP’s left leg.

MVP bounces back and hits the Ballin’ Elbow to get control. But as he is outside, Regal leaves the announcers table and takes down MVP with a chop block to allow Rhodes to win via countout. As Rhodes celebrates, Regal and MVP shoot daggers towards each other.

This Friday on SmackDown: Jeff Hardy will face Chris Jericho! What role will John Morrison play in the outcome of this match?

Intermission: The King’s Court

Sing-Off: Jillian vs. Festus???

Do you really care? It’s Jillian…who continues to make your ears bleed. In any event, the Freakin’ Deacon wins the sing-off over the American Idol reject!

With that, The Miz comes out to run his mouth some more about how he is the greatest. The Miz comes down and tosses the catatonic Festus out of the ring.

The Miz once again calls out John Cena and continues to bash the former World Heavyweight Champion. With that, John Cena comes onto the screen and begins to walk towards the ring.

Back from break, Miz continues to talk smack to the Buffalo crowd. As reported by Vickie Guerrero, Cena is not cleared to compete for two weeks. Again, The Miz claims victory over an absent Cena.

But as he goes for the mic, The Miz is interrupted by…none other than John Cena. An obviously injured Cena walks towards the ring. He then uses the ropes to get into the ring. But as Cena gets into the ring, Big Show comes out to confront Cena. Despite the injuries, Cena prepares for a fight with Big Show.

Show walks back and forth as if he’s waiting for his moment to strike. He then smiles and drops Cena with a big boot to the midsection of Cena. Show continues the punishment with massive shots to the body.

Show then applies a Camel Clutch to the former World Champion. Cena just fades into unconsciousness.

Mickie James vs. Maryse

After being introduced by Jared, The Subway Guy, Mickie prepares to battle the Divas Champion. Mickie wastes no time in going after Maryse.

But after ramming the former Women’s Champion into the wall, she applies the Camel Clutch to her in the ring. But now the two are slugging it out with Mickie getting the advantage.

After hitting the Mickie-T, Mickie scores the pinfall victory over the Divas Champion. She then signals that she will be gunning for the gold real soon.

Win And You’re In Match: Ted DiBiase vs. Batista

DiBiase goes on the assault early and often, until Batista drops him with a body slam and thunderous clothesline. Batista tries to keep control, but Ted drops him with a dropkick. After a few punches to the head, DiBiase delivers a neck breaker followed by a huge headlock.

Batista tries to bounce back, but he gets dropped with a drop toe hold by DiBiase. After a slap from DiBiase, Batista snaps and continues to pummel the Legacy member, which leads to a DQ and the victory for DiBiase.

We now know that Shane will have to face all three members of Legacy in a three-on-one handicap match…tonight.

Back on the program, Chavo tries to talk his aunt into dealing with the possibility of interference by Batista and MVP. But before she could make a choice, she gets cut off by Chavo.

The Brian Kendrick vs. Carlito

Following a cheap shot, Kendrick gets control of the match. But Carlito goes on the offensive with a huge spine bomb. But Kendrick retaliates with a huge kick to a flying Carlito.

But as he goes for the Kendrick, he meets the turnbuckle hard and gets dropped with the Backstabber. Carlito drags him out of the corner and scores the pinfall victory over Brian Kendrick.

Following a quick SmackDown Rebound, we get ready for the main event for tonight.

Main Event - Three on One Handicap Match: The Legacy vs. Shane McMahon

Shane starts the physicality with Cody Rhodes with a thunderous clothesline. After dodging a three-on-one assault, Shane takes Cody down with arm drag. Orton comes in and provides enough distraction for Ted DiBiase to get the advantage.

Shane fires back with a huge clothesline. After taking down Rhodes and Orton, he delivers a neck breaker to DiBiase. After delivering the elbow, Shane goes for the cover only to get cut off by Cody Rhodes.

As Shane goes for a chair shot on Rhodes, Orton cuts him off, tags in and tags down McMahon. Rhodes comes in and continues the fight, but he misses a moonsault. DiBiase comes in and gets dropped with a clothesline. '

Orton comes in to get the victory, but Shane fights back and takes all three men out. On the outside, Shane again tries to go for the announcers table. Shane places Orton on the table and crawls back into the ring. Shane flies off the top, but Orton slips off the table before Shane hits it.

As Legacy holds on to Shane’s leg, Orton slams a chair against his ankle. But that isn’t enough for Orton as he grabs the chair again (only to grab the steel steps instead), lifts it above his head and drops it on the same foot of McMahon. As Shane writhes in pain, Orton stands over him to see the damage he has done to him.

But Batista then comes down and tries to help his friend, only to have Legacy slither away before The Animal can make it down to the ring. Orton then tells Batista that his Judgment Day is coming. He stares at the carnage that he has unleashed before locking eyes on a very irate Animal as RAW goes off the air.
