After a successful 2008-2009 regular NBA season campaign, LeBron James takes home his first, and the franchise's first, NBA Most Valuable Player award named after Maurice Podoloff, the NBA's first commissioner.

LeBron is now the youngest player ever to be voted the award by sportswriters and sportscasters at 24 years and 125 days old. LeBron proved to be one of the most stand-up individuals to receive the award, thanking his mother and asking his team mates to come on stage with him to accept the award.

LeBron simply murdered Kobe Bryant, with 474 more total votes than him. The order of leaders where..

LeBron with 1,172 total votes.

Kobe Bryant with 698 total votes.

Dwyane Wade with 680 total votes.

LeBron James was second in scoring for the league and first for his team, averaging 28.4 PPG. LeBron played a career-high 81 games and a career low 37 MPG average, yet still scored 28.4 PPG (two PPG down from last year), 7.2 APG( same as last year), 7.6 RPG (.3 down from last year), and a career-low 2.98 TOPG. His team won 21 more games than last year, with LeBron playing less minutes but playing better.

LeBron this season has tallied a total of seven triple-doubles this season.  He is now 10th in the all-time most triple-double category, only trailing Michael Jordan by three at 28-25. This guy is only 24! By the time his career is over, expect him to be right behind Oscar Robinson or Magic Johnson in most triple doubles. LeBron became the 12th player in history to record three consecutive triple-doubles. LeBron is the fourth player in NBA history to lead his team in points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

This year, LeBron sat out 14 fourth quarters due to the big lead he helped his team build. That's 168 minuets saved right there. He almost broke His Airness' record of player efficiency rating of 31.89; LeBron's PER was 31.76.

"He's 6-foot-9, 260 pounds and probably the fastest guy on the floor," Knicks head coach Mike D'Antoni said. "It's not only a tough combo for us, but it makes him one of the best in the league.  I think it's in his mind to be the best player. He wants to win a title and that's about it."

"He's a special talent," Cavs coach Mike Brown said. "There are All-Stars and elite players. And then there are players who are a step above that. Kobe and Tim [Duncan] and Michael and Magic and 'Bron obviously fit in that category."

LeBron now cements his name in NBA history, becoming the 53rd winner of the MVP award. His name will now be mentioned in the breaths of Wilt Chamberlain, Michael Jordan, Magic Johnson, and Larry Bird, but frankly i believe those should be honored to be mentioned in the same sentence with LeBron James.
