England has advanced out of Group A and into the Champions Trophy semifinals with a critical, 10-run win over New Zealand in a shortened, 24-overs-a-side match on Sunday.

Captain Alastair Cook led England with 64 runs and helped his team set what would be an unreachable target of 170 for New Zealand.

With the heavens opening above Cardiff, the threat of a washout was looming throughout the morning and into the afternoon.

Due to play having to begin at 4:17 p.m. local time, things were looking favorable for the Black Caps—who would have gone through in a draw—up until the covers came off just after 3 p.m., as per Mike Selvey of The Guardian.
