US Open Golf 2013 Leaderboard: Updated Scores from Exciting Day 4 Action

Mike HoagJun 8, 2018

This is drama.

Until this point in his career, Phil Mickelson has always been a bridesmaid at the U.S. Open and never the bride.

This year at Merion, Mickelson has gone into the clubhouse with the lead—or a share of the lead—after each of the first three rounds.

However, that doesn’t necessarily bode well for his chances of leaving as the U.S. Open champion for the first time in his career, according to ESPN Stats & Info:

But as well as Lefty has played at the grueling Ardmore, Pa., course, he hasn’t quite been at the top of his game. He could have distanced himself from a growing field of contenders, including Steve Stricker, Luke Donald, Justin Rose and Hunter Mahan. That isn’t what happened, though.

The final chapter of the tournament that broke the Merion drought will be decided in the trenches—in a grueling final stand as Mickelson attempts to hold off the competition.

Here’s a look at an interactive leaderboard with the latest on where things stand on the final day of the 2013 U.S. Open:

Anything can happen during Sunday’s final round of the U.S. Open as they are definitely saving the best for last. Three men sit at even par, trailing Mickelson by just one stroke. Anything can happen before they take to the greens, but those top contenders will have a shot to make up some ground with solid performances.

The drama is definitely brewing in Pennsylvania as the world looks on.

Will a wild card emerge with a breakout final round at Merion? Will Lefty be able to hold off the six contenders on his heels to finally capture that elusive U.S. Open title after finishing in second place five times previously?

All of those questions and more will be answered on this final day in Ardmore.
