American Premier League Cricket (APL): Revolution in America?
American Premier League APL: Is it going to be a cricket revolution in America?
American Premier League is breathing on our back and let’s admit it to be a pleasant heat. We are The People; we hardly have any vested interests. For us, a couple of cricketing circuses are better than a single circus. So we will take the ICL, the IPL, and the APL in our strides and still crave for more. After all, do we not have 12 months in the Gregorian calendar, so there is still a lot of place for other events.
APL, candidly put, can become quite a revelation and then press gears and become quite a revolution too. Fetish for cricket that has largely been concentrated to the South Asian contingent can push boundaries and become a part of the American masses. They have long held baseball in high regard and this would give them adequate foundation to acclimatize to this different baseball avatar.
Cricket has made its niche wherever it has traveled. From 5-6 countries, it has panned out beautifully to over 16 countries. Already, the minnows of the past are creating some respect for themselves. In these times, America stands at the crossroad of the sporting equation. It has been a country with a lot of sport culture and success. Unfortunately, it has given cricket a miss till date.
Jay Mir, CEO of American Sports and Entertainment Group. Inc and the man behind the APL mask, is trying to put up a grand show. If all goes according to the plan then APL would certainly be the cricketing curry to America, ICC’s wrath notwithstanding.
