Cubs Win in 12 Innings 10-8

After blowing and early 7-0 lead, the Chicago Cubs won 10-8 in 12 innings.

With bases loaded, Aramis Ramirez drove in the go-ahead run in the 12th with a sacrifice fly that scored Ryan Theriot who was walked leading off the inning.

The Cubs loaded the bases again in the 12th when Kosuke Fukudome was walked intentionally, but Evan Meek unintentionally walked Mark Dersosa, which added another insurance run for the Cubs.

Fukudome continued his awesome play going 3-5 with one RBI, and Geovany Soto got into the action today going 3-7 and driving in two.

Ronny Cedeno hit a three-run double in the third inning that gave the Cubs the 7-0 lead.

Ted Lilly, who was on the mound for the Cubs, pitched only 3 2/3 giving up five earned runs while striking out one and walking two.

Jon Lieber, who pitched three solid innings, took the win, and Carlos Marmol picked up his first save on the season.

The Cubs' defense squandered three errors in the game, all of which lead to runs for the Pirates.

Pittsburgh's Nate McLouth continued his hot play going 3-6 with two RBI.

Xavier Nady, who has also been swinging a hot, bat went 2-5 with a run scored.

Tom Gorzelanny got chased after only pitching 2 1/3 innings, allowing seven runs to cross the plate, all of which were earned. Gorzelanny managed to only strike out two, while walking four.

Meek, who pitched the 12th inning, took the loss after giving up two earned runs and walking five.

The Cubs' record now sits at 4-3, as they look forward to Wednesday when Ryan Dempster is scheduled to take the mound for the Cubs against Zach Duke for the Pirates.
