Chelsea Transfer News: Latest Offseason Rumours for Jose Mourinho and the Blues

Rachel BascomJun 4, 2018

There is never a dull moment in the Premier League transfer rumor mill, and when it comes to Chelsea, there are usually more rumors flying around than there are for any other club.

Here is a roundup of the latest rumors surrounding the North London club.

Brazil striker Hulk is being linked to Chelsea after telling Globo Esporte (via Sky Sports), "If I said there was not anything in [the rumor of a Chelsea bid], I would be lying." Sky is reporting that Jose Mourinho is making a £35 million move for the striker.

Simone Bargellini of Sky Sports has also reported that Edinson Cavani is on his way out of Napoli, with Chelsea a likely next destination.

Meanwhile, Sami Mokbel of the Daily Mail has reported that Chelsea's initial £40 million bid was rejected and will be followed up by an even bigger one—all while facing competition from Manchester City for the Uruguayan. The player has a release clause of £53 million.

The same article in the Daily Mail also links Chelsea to Fiorentina striker Stevan Jovetic for £25.5 million.

Meanwhile, Jack Fox of Metro is reporting that Real Madrid has given up the hope of signing Gareth Bale from Tottenham and will now turn their attention to Chelsea's playmaker, Juan Mata. They are preparing a bid worth around £30 million.

Fox has also indicated that Demba Ba may be surplus to Mourinho's plans and could be on his way out of Stamford Bridge.

Steve Bates of the Mirror is reporting that Chelsea are ahead of Manchester United in the race to sign French defender Eliaquim Mangala from Porto. The tabloid even goes as far as to suggest that it is in large part due to new Manchester United boss David Moyes' holiday.

Bates has also claimed that Romelu Lukaku's return from loan will pave the way for Victor Moses to make a move to Roberto Martinez' Everton club.

Much speculation also surrounds 21-year-old Kevin De Bruyne. Jamie Dunn of Goal.com states that the Belgian will rejoin the Blues, as he is integral to Mourinho's plans for this season. However, Ben Jefferson of the Daily Express has reported that De Bruyne may leave Chelsea in order to play more games.
