Bleacher Report Has Done the Unthinkable: Reach the Millions

Old AccountMay 2, 2009

There are so many memories we have had in sports. Most recently, the Phillies winning the '08 World Series, the Steelers capturing their sixth title. We also had Michael Phelps win six gold medals in the Summer Olympics.

I joined BleacherReport.com in early march after hearing about it many times on a sport forum I was on. I heard it previous times before about the site, but I thought it was the same type of site like blogspot, which I didn't care for.

I decided for once to take a look, and there I was, astonished. The first article I read was about a mock draft, a mock draft that got a lot of comments and recognition.

I then began to think: It has been my dream to be a sportswriter.

When I began pursuing my dream at the age of 13, I emailed a writer for the Daily News, who was Vic Ziegal. I shall always remember the quote he told me: "Write, write, and write some more."

From then on, I pursued to wanting of becoming a sports journalist, and was excited about joining Bleacher Report.

I have now been here for about two months, and have had a great experience thus far. I have had some very popular articles that were showcased on the front page. I have had great support from my fanhood thus far, as they are always interested in my articles.

Little did I know, however, that B/R was going to reach a great milestone; a milestone not many people can say their site is apart of.

That goal is being in the top million sites in the entire world!

When the site was originally created, it was simply four men who loved to talk about sports. They came up with the idea of creating Bleacher Report, a site where you, the top sports fan, can express your knowledge of the game to the people who love it as much as you do.

The site has only continued to grow at a great rate, and many of our Bleacher Creatures' articles have been featured on different sites, like Fox Sports and CBS Sports.

The community all around is spectacular, with virtually every sport getting at least one article from one of our writers.

Now, the moment of truth.

Ladies and gentlemen, I am proud to say that Bleacher Report is the 4,281st most popular site in the world, with 2.5 million unique visitors per month. The site, alexa.com, ranks the top million sites on the world based on a certain system.

According to the Alexa, "The rank is calculated using a combination of average daily visitors and pageviews over the past 3 months. The site with the highest combination of visitors and pageviews is ranked #1."

This is just another step in the continuing of growth here at the open-source network. I have seen a lot of good writers here at Bleacher Report.

Bryn Swartz, Leroy Watson, Josh Dhani, Issac Barrow, Todd Civin, Richard Marsh, Ron Johnson, Graham Brunell, Giants27, and Hao Meng are just a few of the writers who have enjoyed my articles, given me some tips, or have inspired me to continue writing.

Let's continue to make this a great place for all people. Let us continue to put more of our fond writing onto this site and to continue helping it by getting your friends or family aboard so we can make this a better place for all, and hopefully someday reach our goal to become No. 1!
