UFC on Fuel 10: Predicting the Fight Night Bonuses
UFC on Fuel 10 goes down this Saturday from Fortaleza, Brazil. The finale of the second season of The Ultimate Fighter: Brazil culminates when heavyweights and season coaches Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira and Fabricio Werdum square off in the main event.
Will that generate one of the event's post-fight bonuses? Read on for predictions on the Knockout, Submission and Fight of the Night.
Knockout of the Night: Karlos Vemola
1 of 3I started to pick Werdum here, as I think he'll easily out-strike the aging, slowing Nogueira. But I'm going with Vemola.
The guy is a bit of a demon with his fists, provided he doesn't have to kickbox with you or anything crazy like that. And he won't have to kickbox Caio Magalhaes.
Vemola, a massive middleweight, should get Magalhaes horizontal one way or another and deliver a brutal smackdown.
Submission of the Night: Godofredo Pepey
2 of 3I have to give the nod to the Fortaleza native on this one. Felipe Arantes is great on his feet. On the ground, he's not on Pepey's level.
This could be a ready-made crowd-pleaser for the pro-Pepey faithful.
Bonus prediction: I'm thinking triangle.
Fight of the Night: Erick Silva vs. Jason High
3 of 3Erick Silva is as well-rounded as they get. Jason High is mainly a wrestler, but has serious knockout power and submission chops. Both men will start active and stay active.
Their deep toolboxes and gas tanks almost guarantee a barn burner. Throw in the fact that both men are motivated—Silva looking to impress and move up the rankings in front of his countrymen, High looking for his first UFC win in his second tour inside the Octagon. Then throw in the fact that both men seem to be innate showmen (especially High, a bona fide Twitter personality in his own right). Yep. This one has all the makings.
For the record, I'm taking Silva by TKO.
