Chelsea Transfer News: What Missing out on Radamel Falcao Means for Blues
Chelsea supporters have to be disappointed that the Blues weren't able to land coveted striker Radamel Falcao this summer, even if it doesn't spell the end for the English powerhouse.
The well-known Colombian forward recently struck a deal with French club Monaco, according to Mirror Football, meaning that Roman Abramovich will have to look elsewhere for topflight striking talent this offseason.
But even if the Blues fail to bring in a game-changing player who can link up with the club's dynamic midfield trio of Juan Mata, Oscar and Eden Hazard, 2013-14 looks promising for the 2012 European Cup winners.

After finishing third in the English Premier League this past season, ranking second in the league in goals scored (75) and third in fewest goals allowed (39), Chelsea have the core in place to challenge for not only the league, but European supremacy.
While missing out on Falcao hurts Chelsea's hopes of becoming a more lethal attacking team in the future, it doesn't impact Abramovich's bank account, thus leaving the door open for more potential spending this summer.
With the offseason just beginning, Falcao, who has scored 34 goals in 41 starts this season heading into Atletico Madrid's season finale against Real Zaragoza on Saturday, couldn't have picked a better time to decide his future if you're a Chelsea fan.
There is still time and plenty of options for the Blues.
Manchester United's Wayne Rooney is just one of many talented strikers who could potentially be on the move this summer. Therefore, if Chelsea are willing to spend, missing out on Falcao isn't nearly as big a deal as it would otherwise seem.
Plus, Chelsea can offer players the opportunity to play for a top-notch organization while also providing a shot to compete in the UEFA Champions League next season, something that few teams can. That, combined with Abramovich's desire to spend and win, equals the formula for a successful summer.
Falcao may have been the most coveted piece heading into the offseason, but he is by no means a can't-miss player. His scoring output for Atletico over the past two seasons has been impressive, but he's peaking at the moment, and Chelsea won't be lost without him.
