Sheamus Must Regain His Killer Instinct in the WWE

Sebastian MaldonadoJun 6, 2018

Sheamus needs to reawaken his killer instinct and bring it back to the WWE. His killer instinct is what brought him to the main event, and at the moment, it’s missing. He needs it now.

Remember when Sheamus was defined by the nickname “The Celtic Warrior”? He was physical and tenacious in the ring. His ferocious attitude was reflected in all of his matches and promos.

Presently, Sheamus lightened up a bit. He tries to incorporate more humor into his character and occasionally gets some laughs from the WWE Universe.

Unfortunately, that same humor has placed him into mediocrity.

Case in point. During the post-WrestleMania Raw, he fought Randy Orton in a decent match. The crowd couldn’t care less, chanting nearly everything but Orton’s or Sheamus' names. In fact, the fans that night didn’t even react when Sheamus made his way toward the ring.

Frankly, Sheamus is not getting a reaction WWE faces need. It’s not a resounding reaction, and the general public appears not to care.

It’s disappointing, considering he held the World Heavyweight Championship for about six months. He’s shown he can put on good matches with great workers, including Daniel Bryan, Dolph Ziggler and Big Show.

However, good matches mean nothing if contenders cannot draw any reaction.

How can Sheamus solve that problem? Simple: bring back that killer instinct.

Sheamus can learn from Orton in this category. Orton brought back his vicious side during his match against Show at Extreme Rules. Sheamus wasn’t extreme enough during his strap match with Mark Henry on that same night. In my opinion, it was the most disappointing match on the card.

Sheamus slipped back into midcard status, where the fans don’t really seem to care about The Celtic Warrior. The killer instinct Sheamus once possessed drew fans to him in the first place. He was that Superstar who brought intensity and owned up to his mistakes. Where is that Sheamus now? What happened to him? He’s not here now, just a dumbed-down version for the WWE Universe.

It’s time for Sheamus to regain his killer instinct. He needs it to finish his career the same way it started: strong, fierce and aggressive.
