TNA iMPACT Slamback: Darkness Falls on Foley

Ron JohnsonApr 30, 2009

iMPACT! goes on the air with a quick recap of last week’s broadcast. As the show goes live, Jeff Jarrett walks away from the Board of Directors Meeting in an irate mood. Mick Foley, on the other hand, is being his usual confusing, brain-warped self as he leaves the Meeting.

As the show goes to the Zone, the Main Event Mafia come out, led by Kurt Angle.

Angle takes the mic and makes it clear that he is The Godfather. He then gives Jarrett an offer he can’t refuse: If he puts him in the Fatal Four Way at Sacrifice, and gets pinned, the individual that pins him will become the Godfather of the Main Event Mafia. He then decides to take over Foley’s responsibilities as TNA Executive Shareholder.

In the back, Jarrett comes in and tells Foley to stay out of his sight. After Foley tells him to watch his back, Jarrett responds by telling that “You got yourself into this, you get yourself out of it…on your own.” before walking out of the office.

Back on iMPACT!, Lauren is confirming Angle’s challenge to both Jarrett and Foley. And despite Scott Steiner’s anger towards Jarrett right now, Angle tells him to hold off until after Double J puts him in the Fatal Four Way Match.

Motor City Machine Guns vs. Amazing Red & X Division Champion Suicide

Red shows no ring rust as he takes the fight to Alex Shelley, but neither Gun is showing any intimidation until a head scissors takedown allows Red to bring in Suicide.

Thanks to some good double teaming, the Guns take complete control of the match. But Red fires back with a series of dropkicks and a reverse DDT before tagging in Suicide.

Suicide comes in and delivers a set of clotheslines in the corner to Shelley followed by a Shoulder Drop on Sabin. Shelley delivers the Sliced Bread but only gets a two count. The duo takes out Red before focusing their attention on the X Division Champion.

After Red drops Sabin with a flip bomb, Suicide nails the Suicide Solution on Shelley to get the pinfall and advance to the semifinals of the Tag Team Tournament.

After a brief trip down memory lane with “Dr. Stevie,” Lauren asks Abyss if he is sure he wants to step into the ring with someone who is allowed to have weapons.

In the process, ODB’s “boyfriend” decides to challenge The Monster, and after Deaner grabs Lauren’s ass, Abyss quickly accepts the challenge of the Southpaw Redneck.

In the back, Mick Foley is walking around asking for help, which explains why he’s going to the Motor City Machine Guns. But the only way they will join him is if he finds out who is the man under the mask as Suicide.

LAX vs. The British Invasion

The British Invasion has ambushed Hernandez and stolen his Feast or Fired Briefcase. Following the assault, the trio walks to the ring and expects an easy victory.

Unfortunately for them, Homicide sprints down and drops Rob Terry with his briefcase. After taking both men out with a Beaner Boost, Homicide brings the fight to the ring.

Brutus Magnus comes into the ring only to get dropped by Homicide. But the Invasion makes sure that the numbers catch up with the former TNA Tag Team Champion. The Invasion keeps the pressure on Homicide with constant tags and countless impact moves.

Magnus drops Homicide with a huge slam, but misses the big splash. Despite the interference from Magnus, Homicide takes them both down, but thanks to Rob Terry, the Euro Uppercut connects and gives the Invasion the victory to advance to the semifinals of the tournament.

Knockout Stretcher Match

Madison Rayne vs. Awesome Kong

Before the bell, Rudy Charles sends the Beautiful People and Raisha Saeed to the back. As the bell rings, Kong takes the brutality to Rayne. As the ref begins the count, Kong grabs her and delivers a huge Implant Buster before throwing her back on the stretcher.

But before the count is completed, Kong grabs her again and drives her to the ground with an Awesome Bomb before the crowd begs for her to deliver another one.

Kong responds with another Awesome Bomb before driving her back to the stretcher. After the ten count, Kong tries to grab her as security takes her to the back.

In the back, Velvet and Angelina check on their fallen partner as security continues to send her out.

After a brief look at MEM, the Guns decide to come back out to confront the X Division Champion, Suicide. They think they know who Suicide is…and they call out Christopher Daniels, who they think is the man behind the mask.

Daniels comes out to find out what these two dingos are talking about. After dishing out a few allegations towards The Fallen Angel, they then decide to call him a liar.

Sabin then tells Daniels to make amends by admitting that he is indeed the X Division Champion. Daniels steps up and says that he is not Suicide.

He then tells them that if they want to know who he is, then they should ask him yourself. Shelley grabs the mic and again asks the same dumb question. Daniels decides that the talk is over and takes his aggression out on the Guns.

After taking out both men, Daniels goes for the BME, only to have the Guns sprint out of the ring.

In the back, Foley turns his attention for backup to Samoa Joe and The Nation of Violence. After Foley pleads his case, Joe just walks away and says nothing. Foley then decides that it’s time for Plan C.

Hardcore Match

Cody Deaner vs. Abyss

Deaner tries to drop him with a garbage lid, but The Monster hasn’t even flinched. After taking the shots, Abyss drops him with a huge chop to the chest.

After taking a few shots of courage, Cody spits it back into the face of Abyss before charging towards him with a trash can.

Deaner takes another shot with the lid before picking up the kendo stick again. Deaner delivers tons of shots with the stick, but Abyss still remains on his feet.

Cody then grabs a chair and slams him down to drop The Monster. After reversing his cap, he goes into his fanny pack and retrieves a wrench.

He then charges towards Abyss only to get dropped with the Black Hole Slam as a bloodied Monster gets the victory over the slack-jawed yokel.

In the back, Lauren gets the gothic stare from Daffney after making it clear that Abyss has no interest in her. The Gothic Queen just smiles and walks away laughing as TNA goes to break.

Back on iMPACT, the ladies of the Mafia continue to bite each other’s heads off for power.

Before the Mafia comes out, Matt Morgan comes out and gives the Mafia an offer: His services into the Mafia. He also gives them a limited time to decide if they want to bring him in or not.

Also, AJ tells Samoa Joe to show up with his “A” Game and not this Nation of Violence.

Kevin Nash & Booker T vs. AJ Styles & Samoa Joe

Even without Samoa Joe at ringside, AJ decides to fight anyway. Despite being outnumbered, AJ takes the fight to both men. As AJ takes out both men, Bobby Lashley makes his way into the building.

As AJ dives over the top to take Nash and Booker out, Joe decides to make his way down to the match, much to the chagrin of his partner.

Back in the ring, Booker T has complete control of AJ Styles. But Samoa Joe comes in and begins to decimate the duo both in and out of the ring.

Sharmell tosses the belt to her husband, who nails Styles with the gold to get the pinfall victory over the Frontline. After the bell, Joe and Styles are shooting insults to each other.

In the back, Foley is using his last resort to keep Angle from taking over the office.

Conclusion

Kurt Angle heads into the office and begins to confront Foley, but as he does, Foley tries to put his plan into motion. Angle ambushes him and drives him into the ground.

Kurt is then given an alternative: He can hit Foley with a chair to make it even, and then fight him at Sacrifice. As Kurt prepares to hit him with Jeff’s guitar, Foley orders a steel chair…only to turn around and hit him with a phone.

As Foley turns around and drives the sock into Angle’s mouth, the lights go out, and after a huge commotion, the lights come on to reveal…former TNA World Champion Sting as the show goes off the air.
