Luis Suarez's Desire to Leave Liverpool Should Alert Real Madrid

Luis Suarez has sensationally opened up about his frustration of his treatment in England, suggesting that his future in football may be best-served in another country.

"I have had enough. My wife and daughter have suffered and I'm not prepared to continue putting up with English journalists," said the Uruguayan forward in quotes revealed on Wednesday night following an interview with radio station 'Sport980' in his home country.

Some would argue that after a series of controversial moments in his Liverpool career, the 26-year-old should expect nothing less given his actions.

There was that racism ordeal with Patrice Evra, which was argued down to cultural and language differences. More recently, he was handed a 10-match ban for biting Branislav Ivanovic.

Suarez is aware of his mistakes, but feels the treatment given to him by the media has gone beyond being fair:

"I made an error," he continued. "I'm human, but my family have suffered. A line has been crossed."

Whatever people think, there are few that doubt what a special footballer he is. So what next? A move to Real Madrid?

"I’ve talked to my agent, there’s nothing concrete. To say no to Madrid would always be difficult and more so with the team they have," reported AS.

On Monday, there had already been a story in The Sun suggesting Madrid was interested in signing Liverpool's 23-goal striker. Even if they weren't, with his desire to leave they would be fools not to be interested now.

Moving to the Spanish capital would promote him to the stage he deserves to be playing on: The Champions League.

Being from a South American country, he wouldn't encounter the sort of language nuances that yielded so much debate during the whole Evra saga.

With Gonzalo Higuain set to join Juventus, according to Goal.com, there's a perfect gap in Madrid's squad for the man that opposition fans love to hate but is adored by his own supporters.

If a potential swoop makes sense, there is perhaps just one drawback when Florentino Perez considers signing the cheque to bring Suarez to the Bernabeu.

Marketability.

Los Blancos are a club who greatly believe in the marketing aspects of their players. You only have to look at the signings of David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo to understand how much they appreciate players with a worldwide global appeal.

But surely Suarez's ability supersedes that?

Liverpool, through all the bad times—and there have been a few—have stuck with him. From the top to the bottom, the board to the fans, Suarez's behavior hasn't affected the way the people who love the football club view him.

Besides, with Jose Mourinho departing imminently, the press in Madrid will need someone new to fill the sports pages each and every morning.
