A few months ago I wrote an article on the Portland Trail Blazers having the worst announcers in the NBA. Well good news for Blazers fans, the tandem of Mike Rice and Mike Barrett have been downgraded to the second worse announcers in the NBA.
So who takes over as the worst announcers in the league? Well, the answer is Tommy Heinsohn and Mike Gorman.
Heinsohn and Gorman have taken the level of "homer" to the extreme. For example in tonight's Boston Celtics vs Chicago Playoff Game, Heinsohn was talking about how he "hates" Brad Miller, because according to Heinsohn Miller's a big baby. So basically what he's saying is he can't stand the fact that Miller complains to the officials.
He also had the nerve to bring up how the Bulls, apparently, showed a picture of Rajon Rondo's foul committed on Miller to motivate the to win Game Six, apparently it meant the Bulls were going to become "head hunters."
Yet, the funny thing about Heinsohn's complaining about Miller is that the Celtics have two whiners on their team in Glen Davis also known as "Big Baby" and Kendrick Perkins. On top of that Perkins is the one who's constantly getting technicals for complaining to the officials?
So, Mr Heinsohn where's your hate for Perkins and Davis? Wasn't it Davis crying on the bench because Kevin Garnett let Davis have it?
I personally believe that no announcer, regardless if they do not like a player, should not be able to go out on the air and say they hate a certain player. It's not right and it's not professional at all.
Whether Heinsohn was being sarcastic when he stated that he hated Miller doesn't matter, in fact it's juvenile.
So, there you have it Blazer fans there's a tandem of announcers that make Rice and Barrett tolerable. At least when an official makes a call there's a little whining and then moving on.
Unlike the Celtics announcers who spend the next 10 minutes complaining about the call. Luckily for me at half time I switched over to TNT where there's far superior announcers and the "homer" announcers disappear.
