Bayern Munich Win Champions League: See Robben's Late Goal and Trophy Lifted
Bayern Munich won their fifth European Cup with a 2-1 win over Bundesliga rivals Borussia Dortmund, thanks to a late winning goal from Arjen Robben.
A fantastic match ebbed and flowed, with Dortmund on top in the opening half-hour before Bayern finished the first half strongly. Despite the constant action, the scoreline still read 0-0 at the half-time whistle, thanks largely to the efforts of the two goalkeepers, Roman Weidenfeller and Manuel Neuer.
The game really kicked into life after the break, with two goals arriving within eight minutes of each other just after the hour mark.

First, Bayern took the lead after Mario Mandzukic tapped home from within the six-yard box after good work from Franck Ribery and Robben opened up the Dortmund defence. Marcel Schmelzer was unable to keep the ball out from such close range.
A short time later, Dante nearly chopped Marco Reus in half with a wild, high challenge that led to a penalty kick. Ilkay Gundogan scored the equaliser for Dortmund, levelling the scores with 22 minutes left on the clock.
Both teams had chances to score a second goal in the time remaining, most notably when Robert Lewandowski netted a volley from 25 yards, only to have it called back for handball. Bayern were also denied a second after a last-ditch challenge from Neven Subotic cleared the ball off the goal line.
The Bavarian side—Bundesliga champions and German Cup finalists for this season—were not to be denied though. They likely found motivation from their two recent Champions League Final losses in 2010 and 2012.
It fell to Robben to score the dramatic late winner. He raced into the penalty area and beat the goalkeeper with just one minute remaining on the clock to send the red half of Wembley Stadium into ecstasy.
Dortmund barely had the time or energy to mount a late response, and Bayern saw out the game to lift the Champions League trophy in style.
