Joba Goes 7 Strong. Swish Powers Offense, As Yanks Win 8-6
Joba Chamberlain’s velocity was up today, and it showed in the box score. He pitched seven strong innings and pick up his first win of the season. His line was: W, 7IP 3H 1R 1ER 3BB 6K. (88 Pitches-50 for Strikes) I felt he could have went another inning, but the fact that they were up by so much it wasn’t a bad move by Girardi. You can’t blame Joe for taking out a starter with a 7 run lead. Coke pitched a scoreless frame in the 8th inning. Albaladejo came on in the 9th, but ran into trouble so Joe brought in Mariano to close out the game. Unfortunately, it seemed like Mo was rushed out to the mound without getting a bunch of warm up pitches in the bullpen. He gave up a 3-run homer to make the game 8-6, but retired the next batter to end the game.
