Chris Anderson Joins Shaq and Co. for 'Birdman! Birdman!' Action You Can't Miss

Grant HughesJun 8, 2018

Chris Andersen, better known as "Birdman," not only set a Miami Heat playoff record by making all seven of his field-goal attempts in a Game 1 win over the Indiana Pacers Wednesday night, but he also got to sit down with TNT's Inside the NBA crew for a postgame chat that had a little bit of everything.

First of all, if you're at all tired of Shaquille O'Neal's ubiquitous "Birdman, Birdman" chants, it'd probably be best if you didn't click play on the clip above. I didn't count, but as a rough estimate, there are probably about 694,371 mentions of Andersen's nickname in that all-too-familiar sing-song fashion.

You've got to admit it: It's kind of catchy. Isn't that right, Andre Iguodala?

Birdman birdman...

Yep, the Birdman craze is sweeping the nation. Andersen's high-intensity game and inked-up physique kind of deserve the attention they've been getting lately, though.

And O'Neal has taken things to a new level recently, complete with hand gestures and a couple of Andersen-inspired dances. Make sure you watch until the end to see the latter.

Apparently, not everybody's totally into Shaq and his Birdman schtick.

"

The Heat's title parade might be the only time we get to see Birdman without Shaq messing it up.

— Sean Highkin (@shighkinNBA) May 23, 2013"

And some others are already dreading the rest of the series between the Heat and Pacers.

"

OK, enough of Shaq's Birdman, Birdman. We going to hear that for the next six games?

— Jerry Zgoda(@JerryZgoda) May 23, 2013"

Short answer? Yes.

Moving past the division over O'Neal's new catchphrase, it's interesting to watch as Andersen articulately answers questions from Ernie Johnson, Kenny Smith and Charles Barkley. Kenny seems a little taken aback by how composed Andersen seems, which leads to the best moment of the interview when Barkley translates for Smith as he's stumbling to explain his surprise:

"What he really means is 'I thought you were gonna be a damn idiot, but you're really cool.'"

That's how you win Emmys, folks.
